Launch Break

Launch Break is a Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9 . Its name is a pun on "lunch break."

Overview[edit ]

The minigame involves the players fueling their rockets using pumping machines. An energy meter is displayed on the screen and is split into three sections. When the pointer is in the first section, the players must press One Button as fast as they can. When the pointer gets to the second section, Two Button must be pressed. When the pointer reaches the last section, the players must shake Wii Remote until the pointer arrives at the end.

After the three sessions, the players enter their rockets and head for space. There are three phases where each rocket stops and has one of its stages broken off, so it is dependent on how well the players did per button-pressing and remote-shaking session. The player who wins the minigame is launched highest overall. The background music gets to an outer space mix as the players reach space. Occasionally, a UFO is seen flying as the minigame is about to end.

Toad and Shy Guy stand on stools during this minigame due to their height. They also stand on stools in Pizza Me, Mario; Don't Look; and Card Smarts.

• Rules – "Use the controls on-screen to build up energy in your three-stage rocket. The player who blasts his or her rocket highest wins!"
• Controls – "Rapidly enter the controls seen on the energy meter at the top of the screen: first One Button, then Two Button, and finally shake the Wii Remote."
