History[edit ]
Mario Kart DS[edit ]
The Dragonfly first appears in Mario Kart DS as Wario's unlockable signature kart. It is unlocked after the player beats the Nitro Grand Prix in 100cc mode, just like all the other unlockable karts in the game. It has fairly low acceleration, handling (tied with the Royale), and drift (tied with the Banisher), along with high speed, weight (tied with the Rambi Rider), and items.
The kart is unlocked for Luigi and R.O.B. as well when the player gets gold trophies in all Nitro or Retro Courses in 150cc, and becomes available for everyone else when gold trophies are obtained in every cup in 150cc Mirror Mode.
Mario Kart Tour[edit ]
The Dragonfly returns in Mario Kart Tour alongside a new yellow variant called the Firefly, starting from the Amsterdam Tour. It is the signature kart of Daisy (Farmer). Its design was slightly modified, with a slightly darker red color scheme, the seat changing from brown to gray, a smaller cab, airvents on the hood, a smaller emblem on the hood to accommodate said air vents, taillights on the rear fenders, a redesigned rear plow, and a differently-designed exhaust pipe. They are both classified as High-End karts. The Dragonfly uses thinner black and red versions of the Monster tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe . It increases the duration of Slipstream boosts and the number of points earned for performing a Slipstream. Five counterparts, which are also classified as High-End karts, called the Dozer Dasher, Black Dozer, Pink Dozer, Ice Dozer, and Purple Dozer also appear in Mario Kart Tour, but they are designed after bulldozers, making the Dragonfly the second kart to be introduced after its counterpart, with the first being the Sushi Racer.
Starting with the Battle Tour, the Dragonfly is obtainable from regular pipes, including the All-Clear Pipe. However, it is not a part of the Daily Selects lineup. The following table shows the kart's special availability by tour.
