Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is blessed with abundant natural resources such as petroleum, natural gas, and uranium, and has the largest economic scale among Central Asian countries.
JICA supported Kazakhstan's growth after independence by assisting in the urban planning and infrastructure development of Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan.
Currently, JICA is supporting sustainable development of Kazakhstan with a balance between economic and social development by setting "development of economic and social infrastructure," "human resource development for sustainable economic growth," and "environmental conservation and climate change countermeasures" as priority areas, while taking into account the Kazakhstan’s efforts to shift away from a resource dependent economy by diversifying its industries.
In addition, JICA is working on to support Kazakhstan in providing development assistance to neighboring countries in Central Asia.
