Since the Steam Deck is essentially just a little PC with a screen and controls, it’s compatible with almost all the top PC controllers. According to the Steam Deck’s specs, the gaming handheld supports Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.3, which means it should work seamlessly with almost any modern Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. If you’re after a lower-latency connection, a wired USB-C controller or a USB-C dongle can slot directly into the Steam Deck’s USB-C port. USB-A controllers are also supported, but you’ll need a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter or a dock to use them.

Beyond connectivity, there are a few other features to keep in mind when selecting a controller for the Steam Deck. How to Connect a Bluetooth Controller to Steam Deck

Connecting a compatible controller to the Steam Deck wirelessly via Bluetooth is straightforward, following a similar process to pairing a PS5 controller to a PC:

1. Turn on Bluetooth on the Steam Deck by pressing the Steam button
2. Enter Settings → Bluetooth → Toggle it on to search for devices
3. Ensure the controller is in Bluetooth pairing mode. Most have flashing lights to indicate the mode is activated.
