How to Change Spells
With dozens of unique enemy types to face in Hogwarts Legacy, it's only fitting to want to utilize the various spells you get to learn in the game. Here you'll find everything you need to know on changing spells and charms and how to increase the number of Spell Sets you can rotate at a given time.
How to Change Spells
In Hogwarts Legacy, you can only have four active spells on your action bar; you can see which are currently active on your bottom right screen.
To change them, press the Right D-Pad (Consoles) or T (PC) to access all your unlocked spells. From there, hold RT/R2 (Xbox & PS) and use the D-Pads to choose which set to edit, then hover over the spell or charm you want to equip and press the corresponding slot button to activate it unto your action bar.
- For Mouse and Keyboard users, simply drag and drop the spells in whichever slot you like.
- During combat, you can access the different Spell Sets by scrolling up or down (PC); or holding RT and pressing the corresponding D-pad on the controller.
How to Increase Spell Sets
Your spells are your best friends in Hogwarts Legacy—they are the difference makers during combat, the solutions to many puzzles, and will make your overall experience in the game that much easier. But having only four active spells at a time can get dull quickly.
Fortunately, you'll be able to add two extra sets of spells directly at Level 5. However, you must complete the main quest Jackdaw's Rest, to unlock the Talent tab.
Once you've completed Jackdaw's Rest, open your Talent tab and go to the Core talent tree. You'll want to spend your talent points for Spell Knowledge I and Spell Knowledge II under the Level 5 talents.
- You'll be able to get the last Spell Set by unlocking Spell Knowledge III at Level 16.
In total, you can equip 16 total spells at a given time. Try to utilize the sets for different purposes, i.e., one for your main combo, one for utility, one for the Room of Requirement, etc.
