Apple TV, which was previously called Apple TV+ before dropping the plus in 2025, is a streaming subscription service owned by Apple. The service first launched on November 1, 2019 offering and ad-free selection of original movies and shows. The most recent data we have about subscriber growth puts the count at 45 million subscribers as of March 2025, though Apple has hinted that there's "much more than that" now.
How Much Does it Cost?
Apple TV originally launched for only 4ドル.99 back in 2019, but the service has seen multiple price increases since then. The most recent price increase was in April 2025 where Apple increased subscription costs to 12ドル.99 per month from 9ドル.99. Here are the available plans and pricing as of August 2026:

There's only one standalone Apple TV plan available, but you can choose either monthly or annual pricing. There's a seven day free trial available for new subscribers or three months free for anyone with a new Apple device purchase.

There are currently two types of Apple TV bundles available. There's Apple One, which includes Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud+, and an Apple Arcade subscription. The standard individual plan gets you those base services while the premier plan gets you access to Apple News and Apple Fitness as well. There's also the Apple TV and Peacock bundles, which launched back in October 2025 and offer 4K streaming. These are a great way to save on both an Apple TV subscription as well as a Peacock Premium plan.

The Apple TV Streaming Library
Apple TV is mostly known for its original content, which has grown significantly in recent years. Apple's focus is on quality over quantity, and it has proved that time and time again with each new release. New additions in August include Silo season 3 episodes, the return of Ted Lasso, and a new season of Dark Matter. The service also continues to be home to all things F1.
In addition to its originals, Apple TV holds the long-term rights to the Peanuts franchise. Apple also recently reached a deal with Brandon Sanderson for the rights of his Cosmere universe. Sanderson has given an update that the first film adaptation of his Mistborn series is already under way.
