Project Hail Mary Is Now Streaming on MGM+, Which Is Basically Free Through Prime Video

Project Hail Mary is officially streaming.In a somewhat unexpected move, Amazon has put the sci-fi blockbuster on MGM+ as opposed to the significantly more popular Amazon-owned platform, Prime Video. Given how well the movie did in theaters, Amazon likely saw the opportunity to get subscribers onto the lesser-known service.
Project Hail Mary Now Streaming on MGM+, Discounted on Amazon
MGM+ theoretically offered a free trial that seems to have been rolled back ahead of the Project Hail Mary streaming release. (This is a general trend in the streaming world.) However, Prime Video is offering a deal on the streaming service as a channel add-on. From now until June 26, you can get two months of MGM+ for 0ドル.99/month . I'd call that pretty much free, so long as you remember to cancel the subscription before it auto-renews at 7ドル.99.
If you aren't willing to risk it on an (almost) free trial, Prime Video has also directly discounted the digital version of the film ahead of Prime Day. The price to rent Project Hail Mary has dropped from 19ドル.99 to 5ドル.99, while the price to purchase it has dropped from 24ドル.99 to 19ドル.99.
Stream Project Hail Mary
Project Hail Mary was an absolute hit at the box office. The film has grossed over 680ドル million globally on a reported budget of 200ドル million, and still retains its spot as one of the highest-grossing movies of 2026.
What contributed to the big success? IGN’s own review praises the film’s approach to "carrying forward the author’s celebration of science, teamwork, and bravery on a huge scale, bolstered by great performances from Ryan Gosling and James Ortiz and Greig Fraser’s fantastic work behind the camera." It’s also firmly in the realm of the recent ‘Hope-core’ trend, with writer Tom Jorgensen going on to say that "Project Hail Mary is a memorable celebration of how much we can accomplish when we work together."
It shouldn’t be too surprising that there are already talks of somehow turning Project Hail Mary into a larger franchise. We’ve already seen tons of merchandising, including a full LEGO set and a particularly popular Rocky plush.
Naturally, much of the film’s success is also a testament to the beloved status of the original novel. We recently got the chance to speak with Andy Weir about the film as well as an upcoming VR game he directly contributed to.
Blu-ray Up for Preorder, Release Date TBA
If you’re more interested in having the film on your shelf (and in a way you'll know you can keep forever), there is in fact a 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD up for preorder. The caveat? We still don’t have a release date for any of them, likely owing to the delayed digital and streaming release in response to the film’s success in theaters.
