Services for Mabel C. Ortner, 98 year old retired housewife of Thomas were held Saturday, in the First Christian Church of Thomas with Wes Collier officiating. Burial was in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas under the direction of Russell Funeral Home. Born Aug. 7 1885 in Emery, Illinois, Mrs Ortner died Wednesday, January 11, 1984 at the Thomas Nursing Home. She lived in Oklahoma since she was 12 and in Thomas since 1941. Mrs. Ortner married Jacob Ortner May 24, 1905 in Enid, Ok and was a member of the First Christian Church of Thomas, the Senior Citizens Club and Royal Neighbors of America. Mrs. Ortner is survived by one son, Morris Leo, Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter Helen Foster, Hinton, OK, one sister-in-law, Clara Grogan of Hitchcock, OK; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
