APA Resolution on Ageism
Approved by APA Council of Representatives, August 2025
Ageism is a pervasive and deeply ingrained form of discrimination based on chronological age that negatively impacts individuals across the lifespan.
This resolution not only addresses the profound impacts of ageism but also advocates for systemic changes that promote dignity, respect, and inclusion for individuals of all ages.
The American Psychological Association continues to reject ageism in all its forms and commits to support efforts to eliminate it from our society.
