Stokes Paradox

For viscous flow around an infinite cylinder, Eric Weisstein's World of Math no solution to the low-Reynolds number Navier-Stokes equations can be found which satisfies the boundary conditions at the surface and infinity. The resolution of the paradox is that the effect of the cylinder on the velocity extends to very large distances, so the Reynolds number is on the order of 1 and there is a region in which inertia forces are significant.
