Internal Wave

Internal waves are buoyancy waves caused by variations in density with height z in a fluid. Let be the unperturbed density, then the equation describing internal waves is given by

where g is the gravitational acceleration. For negative density variations, the waves have the Brunt-Väisälä frequency
