We're pleased to bring you a small update to MuseScore Studio: version 4.7.2.

You can get the update right away via MuseHub or here at MuseScore.org.

Critically, for all of us Linux users, it also fixes audio export - which was completely broken in version 4.7.1.
I hope a test has been added to ensure this does not happen again.

Video export is still broken in all 4.7 releases so far with the AppImage on Arch and all derivatives, however. To fix it, you have to unpack the AppImage, move some library files around and then either execute it from the squashfs-root or re-pack it to an AppImage.

To be clear, audio export works just fine in 4.7 and 4.7.1 on Linux. But I assume you are referring to the fact that on a certain subset of Linux distributions, the default file dialog changed to one that does not autoamtically fill in the filename extension, and if you failed to notice this and didn't add the extension yourself, the export would fail. Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to test for things like that in an automated way - the automated tests may or may not use the specific distribution of Linux that uses the non-conforming dialog, and automated tests can't interact with dialogs anyhow - so we always rely on people helping out by testing nightly builds before releases.

Page numbers don't match former editions. $N/$n (Page numer / total pages) isn't correct anymore. First page only / 1 is given. Other pages only give the page number two times e.g. 2/2 then 3/3 and so on.

There is a bug which the playing suddenly stop randomly for a brief moment
I cannot understand why playing was stuck in version 4.7.2
The version 4.6.5 never happened like that

Hello, I typically write HBCU style arrangements using the synth sounds and after the update the synths now have this weird muffled and swirl sound and i really just don’t like the way it sounds, is there a way to fix this as this wasn’t happening before i updated the app? thank you!

I'm not sure if it's my own OS but when I installed the most recent version, it crashed and opened a message that read "icu.dll not found" of some sort. I've checked the program folder and all of the key files seemed to be there. I tried re.installing it but it didn't work out

I have just installed Muescore studio 4.7.2 on my Mac and now it crashes every time I try to open it. It displays the splash screen, then a brief glimpse of a score and then it crashes. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still the same problem. Is this a bug or something wrong on my end?

Crashes are always bugs, but - it definitely doesn't crash on startup for most people, so there must be something unique about your system, or the specific score it is trying to open on startup - that triggers the crash. Try rebooting, also try starting with no score loaded, or loading a different score. If the problem persists, start a new thread and give more details. Like what version of macOS, what VST plugins you have installed, etc.

Good morning,
I have downloaded the most recent version of MuseScore, but the Navigator isn't functioning currectly. When I load a piece of music from 4.6 or earlier or start with a new score in 4.7+ the Navigator loads as a magnifier. I can go to view and turn it off and back on and it will work like it is suppoed to. I didn't like the Navigator tool at the beginning, but I use it constantly now. Sorry, but I don't have a screen shot of this since it is on the monitor.

Asking for a friend. Really.

For a class I will be teaching this weekend, I'm having the participants load MSS 4.7.2, along with my special Workspace that I've set up for Barbershop. One lady, using Windows, is unable to get it properly loaded. She is installing through MuseHub. The program loads, and works, and in the Workspace dropdown, it shows the normal Default, Edit, Create New. But when we go to her folder for Workspaces, it's empty. Not even the default folder is showing. If she drags my Workspace to that folder, it doesn't show up in the dropdown. We've uninstalled and reinstalled, with the same result.

There are no other folders in her MuseScore 4 folder, either, leading me to think either it's an incomplete install, or we're in the wrong place.

Other students have had no problems. Any ideas what's up?

Thanks for that. I don't think so, though. We spent some time determining that her OS is Windows 11, and she really isn't savvy enough to go much deeper.

It's frustrating for her, and I don't know enough about windows to help her. She may go to Costco this afternoon and pick up a Mac laptop. She already has the iPhone and iPad, so why not? She really wants to take my classes, so we'll see how that works out.
