A number of current projects aim to build a better universe of claims, sources, and assessments of their reliability.
A common set of observations explored by a range of tools and evaluations:
- [sentence BS in document B] [citations for BS] [key concepts] [sentence AS in WP article A] [citations for AS]
- [relevance? yes/maybe] [agreement? yes/no/neutral]
Here relevance means how closely related A and B are, and agreement means whether AS and BS agree.
If B and A are the same article, this can be used to check for intra-article consistency. If B is another wikiverse article, this can check for cross-article consistency. If B is in an unknown page on the web, the can compare its claims to A. If B is a reliable source, this can check A against it. If both A and B have their own secondary sources, this can check those source-sets against one another.
Ingestion ('mouth')
[edit ]- dbpedia - extract claims from wikiverse articles
- TARB preprocessing - extract new citations from the edit stream.
Databases ('stomach')
[edit ]- FactBank / Knowledge Bank / Vault - Database of claims in dbpedia / from wikiverse projects
- see also dbpedia
- WikiCite - A wikibase for all citations references on WP, or uploaded by wikimedians
- Start w/ all sources in Wikidata, move to its own Wikibase. This is planned to be split out from the rest of Wikidata in 2024.
- Eventually: add all links in WP; then all scholarly literature; then all news articles from reliable publishers
- TARB - includes a database of all references on WP articles (Internet Archive - turn all references blue)
Evaluations ('eyes')
[edit ]- Alignment
- CitationNeeded - tool for highlighting text in web pages to check against WP - Chrome plugin
- Future variant: View Sources - see sources on web page + related sources on associated wikiverse pages
- Question:
- Evaluation
- CitationChecker / Automated Link Checker - look at a cite and eval whether it says what the sentence/paragraph it's attached to says.
- Reference Risk (model) - evaluate risk of an existing ref needing replacement, or of an unreferenced sentence needing a ref to avoid removal.
Updates ('hands')
[edit ]- Action
- Reference Replacer - cf CiteCheck
