Discord is a freeware application used for communication between users, available for desktop devices, and iOS and Android. In Discord, there are different forms of communication. Main ways of communications are in servers, but also include VOIP chatting and direct messaging.
In 2016, an unofficial Wikimedia Discord server was made by the user Ferret for users that were using Discord at the time. The server is moderated by English Wikipedia volunteers. Users are expected to follow the IRC/wikipedia/Guidelines#Channel_guidelines/IRC channel guidelines on the server.
