How will the signal-to-noise ratio be controlled?

[edit ]

To prevent the project from being overrun with fixers-of-the-world promoting their perpetual-motion solutions to the energy crisis, cures for imaginary diseases, and routes to world peace through the compulsory consumption of broccoli soup, a few rules and requirements need to be established. This needs to be brainstormed together. Examples of possible solutions to consider are:

  • Philisophical ideas must be a serious intended, which according to the writer could really bring about a change or innovation in philosophical thinking.
  • Philosophical ideas should be substantiated with references to research or studies.
  • Users can give each other content ratings on their philosophical ideas. The overall rating will be displayed at the top of the article.
  • Ideas can be challenged by others by giving them labels, for example, "Perpetual motion", "Imaginary cure" or "Idealistic solution". This would be displayed at the top of the page. It could then be discussed on the dialogue page.

What would be the difference between Wikiphilosophers and Kialo?

[edit ]

Kialo is an online-based discussion platform with argument maps in the form of debate trees. It shows arguments for and against claims underneath user-submitted theses or questions. There are some important differences between Wikiphilosophers and Kialo.

  • Claims on Kialo are supposed to be brief and at best not original. On Wikiphilosophers, views should be explained more extensively and new insights, ideas and theories may be published.
  • On Kialo, it's mainly about having discussions with short answers, which can be answered again and so on. Wikiphilosophers should provide an overview of different viewpoints without too much discussion about them, despite the fact that discussion would be encouraged.
  • With all these different viewpoints, Kialo ends up being quite cluttered and unseeable. Wikiphilosophers should remain uncluttered at all times.
