I want to usurp the following account

--Tados 08:59, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, this wiki has local bureaucrats. Contact one of them to request usurpation. --Erwin 09:35, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
It's done, thank you. I came here because the frwiktionary wasn't here. I do apologise. Thank you again. -Tados 19:04, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello! I had (still have actually) a SUL account with the username "xxxxxx". I changed it to "FBW" to the wikipedias where I had contributions and also usurp the name in the German wikipedia. Now the name is available in all the other wikipedias (in the ones that seems not available it is taken by me). Could you please delete the global account "xxxxx" and unify the "FBW" to make a SUL account with the latter username? Is this possible? Thanks for your time.--157.193.9.205 07:18, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, please go to special:mergeaccount and unify the account Yourself. deletion is not necesary, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=|

Hi, could you please delete my SUL with user name Jonesy22? It creates a mess for me now, I have different username on few wikis and my requests to usurp appropiate accounts on them was rejected.--Jonesy22 22:08, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, we will not delete the global account, we can however unmerge the local accounts on wikis where You have a different username, to solve the login problem, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 16:19, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Uh, ok. It could work. Then please unmerge accounts on slovakian, czech, polish and french wikis. And commons as well. Thanks a lot.--Jonesy22 08:35, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello Jonesy, done that, if You ever wish to merge them again, just go to special:mergeaccount, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:14, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot dude, I owe you.--Jonesy22 23:20, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

  • I recently usurped the en.wiki user:Javert (my home wiki). However, this has created an SUL problem. I am requesting to usurp the following accounts.
  • w:test:Javertlogusurp
  • w:it:Javertlogusurp

Javert 05:14, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, all those wikis have local bureaucrats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 07:21, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi—I'm trying to create a universal account, but there is another Jp07 on es.wikipedia.org. Help, please???

Thanks!

You seem to have created an SUL account successfully -- it's attached to your en.wikipedia and meta accounts. If you intend to edit on the Spanish Wikipedia, you can look into usurping User:Jp07@eswiki, but if you're not interested in editing there, you don't need to worry about that account. Nobody but you will be able to register User:Jp07 on any Wikimedia project in the future, since you own the SUL account by that name. — Dan | talk 06:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Well... I would look to usurp it I guess. How do I do this? I have been attempting to assist with translating to/from Spanish. Thanks. --Jp07 18:45, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello, es.wiki has local bureaucrats, please ask for renames/usurps there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page on the left), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:06, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi--I have talked to a couple of bureaucrats on es.wikipedia.org and I have yet to get anywhere on this... I spoke with .José who referred me to an expert on this subject, Barcex. I left a message for Barcex and it has been several days... I would like to help by translating articles into Spanish, but I am waiting on this usurpation... Is there anyone else I can talk to? --Jp07 03:38, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Just open a normal request on es:Wikipedia:Cambiar el nombre de usuario, instructions see es:Wikipedia:Cambiar el nombre de usuario/English. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 05:11, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Just for the archive, I've fullfiled his request as per signed request on the eswiki relevant page. — df| 14:47, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Status: Not done by stewards, others are welcome to assist contacting local bureaucrats.

I want to usurp the following accounts

I've been in contact with local bureaucrats, and either the language barrier or a lack of understanding of what I asked, has made it difficult. Both of these accounts seem to be taken on their respective Wikipedias, however neither have any contributions. These two accounts are the only things stopping me from unifying my account (with en.wikipedia) being my main account. I know the proper route is through local bureaucrats, however I believe it would be easier if someone here could help me. Also, I intend to edit on these Wikis eventually, and the one username across all would make it easier. --Alan16 22:57, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Anyone familiar with these projects is welcome (and encouraged) to assist you in conversing with the local bureaucrats, but to make sure the situation is clear, since there are local bureaucrats, we are prohibited from performing the usurpation for you. I'm marking this "not done" procedurally, since it can't be done here. Kylu 23:21, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
I didn't realise you were actually prohibited, sorry. Alan16 23:32, 6 August 2009 (UTC).
No problem. Part of it comes from the sheer amount of reality-altering awesome power we're given... (heh) You wouldn't want us to just be able to go anywhere, willy-nilly, and do whatever we'd like, so the steward flag comes with a serious restriction: It may only be used in cases where: 1) There is obvious community consensus as to the action, or, 2) There is an immediate and obvious need (such as fighting vandalism). One thing that people often do forget, however, is that we may still act as non-stewards using any other roles we have. I'm a bureaucrat on Meta here, for instance, and could perform a rename here even though there are other non-steward bureaucrats. There are obviously situations where if one's tool abilities overlap, things could get murky, but for the most part it's just a matter of keeping track of what right grants which button. Please forgive me if I talked your ear off. :) Kylu 23:48, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. I guess I'll try again with a local bureaucrat. Thanks for the help. Alan16 09:32, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm a bureaucrat on the Spanish Wikipedia. You can request usurpation on w:es:WP:CNU and we will be glad to help you. As far as I can see, the account has 0 edits since 2005 in es.wikipedia so usurping this account is not a problem :) — df| 09:49, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Just the French now. Best regards, Alan16 14:05, 7 August 2009 (UTC).

I want to usurp the following accounts

And I have 2 questions. One of them is that I already usurped my nick in the english wikipedia, but it doesn't appear in my unified account even if I try by posting my password: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Especial:MergeAccount

The other question is, there is someone called RoRo in the german wikipedia. Probably I will never need an account there, buy I like to know if I can make an account with other name, for example RoRo2, and add that german wikipedia nick to my unified RoRo account.

Thanks. --RoRo 18:12, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, all those wikis have local bureaucrats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits.
@Nick on en.wiki: please go to [1] to merge Your account to Your sul account.
@RoRo2: no, merging different usernames to the global account is not possible. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:35, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Daniel@glwiktionary

The following discussion is closed.

I request that gl:wikt:User:Daniel on the Galician Wiktionary be changed to gl:wikt:User:Daniel (usurped):

The account has been inactive for four years. The only bureaucrat on the project has edited twice in the last two years, once in 2008 and then again in March 2009, the latter to make a minor copyedit to the MediaWiki interface (interestingly, the last sysop to make an edit was in April). Daniel (talk) 13:08, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, the account has useful edits, and apparently is the same user as gl:User:Daniel who also has edits. I am not willing to rename such an account without the owners consensus. Try to contact the local community if they would allow such an usurpation, or even better, try to contact the user himself and ask him politely.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 05:13, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
"Having useful edits" does not preclude renaming of inactive-for-four-year accounts, as was pointed out here. Contacting the user and asking his approval is impractical as he hasn't edited in four years (yes, four years!). I would be happy to leave a note on his talk page saying that unless he objects in 14 or 28 days his account would be renamed, but asking for his approval before taking action would be like asking someone who has been dead four years to come in and fill out a census - ie. it's not going to happen. The active community consists of three users, all non-administrators; one speaks en-4, the others don't appear to. Please let me know whether you'd be satisfied with these three editors coming to a consensus to allow the usurpation would be enough for you to rename glwikt:Daniel to glwikt:Daniel (usurped) - I won't bother contacting them if it won't be. Daniel (talk) 05:38, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Being able to create a SUL account does not mean to be allowed to usurp existing accounts, I personally am not impressed by 4 years, I have seen users come back after very long times. Yes, please ask those editors for their opinion, since they run that wiki, but IMHO it would be polite to just ask the owner. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 05:45, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Suggest a way for me to contact the owner and I will do it. He is inactive so talk page isn't a viable option. He doesn't have email enabled, so that doesn't work either. How else would you suggest contacting him? Daniel (talk) 05:52, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
I did link to this page in my first reply, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 06:21, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
"This user has not registered an email address valid or has chose not receive emails from other users." Daniel (talk) 06:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
here not there. He links to his wikipedia account where he has a valid email given. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 02:42, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Tarmo

The following discussion is closed.

My SUL account is "Tarmo". I just created account Tarmo2 on meta (since "Tarmo" needs usurping) and confirmed its email address (the same as my SUL account's email), so I can make this change request. To finish my SUL, I'd need to usurp the following accounts:

  • q:fi:Tarmologusurp (has been hardblocked due to harrassment (not by me)) Done
  • :meta:Tarmologusurp (no edits) Not done
  • :mw:Tarmologusurp (no edits) Not done
  • w:et:Tarmologusurp (two edits made in 2006, nothing since; no user or talk page; could this existing user account be renamed to something else?) Not done

And then account Tarmo2 on meta should be renamed to Tarmo.

--Tarmo2 14:39, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, all those wikis have local bureaucrats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits. On fi.wikiquote I did the rename because the bureaucrat was not active for a long time, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:35, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. So I actually need to create a new account under a different name in each wiki, then ask for usurping and renaming? Or can I make the request anonymously to a bureaucrat? Tarmo2 07:19, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
As long as you confirm such a request from your home wiki it shouldn't be a problem. --Erwin 07:50, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I want to be renamed to RMeier with the following accounts

This is (and should be for my unified login) my home wiki, where I first created my account with a different capitalization. Now I'd like to be RMeier in all wikis. Thanks! --RMeier 14:23, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't get the meaning of this page immediately. I'll try it there, sorry for bothering you.--RMeier 22:45, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Done - could you change my home wiki to de.wiki? I understand there is no way for me to do that other than to ask a steward. Thanks! --RMeier 00:17, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry, there is no way to change the homewiki. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 06:15, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

How to unify BPK account?

The following discussion is closed.

I have "BPK" account on several Wikimedia projects: Russian Wikipedia, German Wikipedia and Commons. Unfortunately, English Wikipedia already had an "Bpk" account and I created a new one named "TwinCat". Now how can I create an universal account without losing my relation to all the changes made by me? I can reconcile myself to renaming "BPK" accounts to "TwinCat" if acquiring an "BPK" name is not possible.

— The preceding unsigned comment was added by BPK (talk) diff (UTC)

Hello, You can either merge (=unify) the existing accounts with ru:special:mergeaccount or ask for a rename, the name "Bpk" is not a problem, because Your accountname is in capital letters, if You merge the account, You should be able to use "BPK" on en.wiki too. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 08:35, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Although I wasn't able to create an "BPK" account on english Wikipedia, it had been created successfully after I got a global account.

Assigning changes to me

Thank you for instructions to merge my Wikimedia accounts. Now I wonder how to assign changes made from my IP-address some time ago to my user name?

— The preceding unsigned comment was added by BPK (talk) diff, please sign discussions with --~~~~ (UTC)

Hello, You can't nor can we, sorry, just always log in, if You wish to have the contributions added to Your account only, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:03, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

EN.wiki Usurp Request

The following discussion is closed.

If there is no objection or active user or working email that responds with an objection, given a reasonable period of days, I would like to request the use of Oiseau on the EN Wikipedia, as the SUL Utility reports that this user has never made an entry in the 3 years since the account was registered.

I wish to usurp the following account if it is abandoned or never used

Also, I would appreciate being able to use and return legitimacy to the following account, which was blocked due to abuse by a sock puppet several years ago

..Thanks very much .. --Oiseau 13:07, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
