GrondinBot@nl.wikinews.org

Status: Done

GrondinBot (the bot of Grondin) has bot rights at at least fr.wikinews.org (maybe more projects). He wants to help us at our project and needs rights for that. Can you please supply him with bot rights? Thank you in advance. Ymnes (talk) 14:55, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

He has had a bot status on our project yet, around 2009-2010. Ymnes (talk) 15:50, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
You need to stat a new discussion. Ruslik (talk) 19:00, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
The discussion links are included in the link as mentioned above. (3 links) Greetings, --Livenws (talk) 19:16, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Correct. Ymnes (talk) 20:13, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
On hold till 23 July 2017. Ruslik (talk) 20:43, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
NB that a new discussion was not yet started, only the old one was "closed again". --MF-W 16:50, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Incorrect. Please read the text and follow the links. There is consensus and it has been discussed. Ymnes (talk) 18:12, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

To explain more on our culture. In the low countries (NL and B, especially NL here) were accustomed to a democracy where there is a lot of ́poldering ́ (reaching consensus). Compare France/USA: in these democracies there is a lot of polarization (if your idea is supported by 51% of the votes, you will win and the other one will lose). You can see this also in our voting rules, that are meant to be used merely if no consensus is reached. In the case of GrondinBot (and also RomaineBot) we reached consensus, and therefore no extra voting is needed. Ymnes (talk) 18:58, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Five days are over. Can the botbit be given? Thanks, Livenws (talk) 22:36, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Done.--HakanIST (talk) 06:24, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

Bot RomaineBot@nl.wikinews.org

Status: Done

This request is added earlier than allowed following the normal procedure. All the regular editors of the nl.wikinews.org community has voted in favor already and this bot is very welcome for this project. The RomaineBot is known on different other wiki-sites and the user has helped with resolving [2] to make nl.wikinews.org functional. The community of nl.wikinews.org would love to see that the RomaineBot receives the bot-bit as soon as possible, but the decision when to grand this rights is up to the admin users on meta. Huhbakker (talk) 12:49, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

RomaineBot has had bot rights on our project before, namely until 2010. Ymnes (talk) 15:49, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
On hold till 24 July 2017. Ruslik (talk) 18:17, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Please respect our culture: can you please hurry up or leave it to someone else? Ymnes (talk) 19:10, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

I am going to respect the steward policies and common sense, both which require that any discussion lasted for some reasonable time - usually a week. Ruslik (talk) 19:30, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
This is no case to discuss for a week. Please let someone else do it and erase your onhold. Please be sensitive. Ymnes (talk) 19:49, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
On the Dutch Wikipedia it is common practise with consensus to give botbit in 24h. The same here. The local community asked me to help, there is no reason for them to gave to wait. So no, it is not common sense.
Can you please provide a link where it says in the policies where I xan read you have to wait a week? Because I could not find it...
However I did find:
  • "Don't override consensus" -> which there is: consensus to give bot status yesterday.
  • "Check local policies" -> It is the local policy to give bot status directly with consensus.
So you are not respecting the stewards policy. Why are you breaking your own policy? Romaine (talk) 19:58, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
We know Romaine for years, and Grondin is as much known. Please let a steward take action here: to make a decission now on behalf of your policies. Here is abuse of power at stake. Ymnes (talk) 20:09, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

I would like withdraw bot request. since no-one on wiki minds my bulk edits i will continue doing so with my original account. Anoop/ಅನೂಪ್ (Talk)(Edits) 09:29, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
Using a bot flag allows you to get API high limits and edit semiprotected pages just in case you can't already... —Marco Aurelio 15:19, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
