Hello everyone. I have been operating EdoBot, an interwiki bot, intermittently for a couple of months now. I am a trusted bot operator, and as well as this bot I operate a number of others - DodoBot, MessageDeliveryBot and WelcomerBot on the English Wikipedia, and DodoBot on Commons (which runs a completely different task from the enWP bot, although inactive at the moment). I am also part of the Bot Approval Group on the English Wikipedia. - EdoDodo ^talk 16:15, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I am global user of AWB and admin in en.wiki. Yobot has bot status in en.wiki. I applied in pl:Wikipedia:Boty/Zgłoszenia and in pt:Wikipedia:Robôs/Pedidos_de_aprovação/pedidos#Yobot. I would like to do basic CHECKWIKI error fixes in all wikis, always after discussion in a local page. Most projects don't have a page of approval for WB so I could just run from my account as a bot but I want to avoid flooding and some editors asked me to do everything under a bot account.

If you think this is too much to ask, just approve me for pl.wiki, which everybody seems to agree but there is no bureaucrat there. -- Magioladitis 14:43, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

The policy on global bots says that "the bot must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects" (emphasis not mine), so as far as I know, Yobot could not to be a global bot at the moment. - EdoDodo ^talk 14:56, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Global bot status is only for maintaining interwikis (see Bot_policy#Global_bots).

As you will only act after discussion with the communauty, you can make local requests for bot flag.

After about 180,000 edits i would like to get global flag to help other projects, i was requested before i when i had a little edits, but i think there is no objection now, i have 153 bot flag with this account in whole wikimedia, thank you Mjbmr ^Talk 14:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

ChuispastonBot is a bot written in python (pywikipedia framework) whose purpose is interwikis. It works on the toolserver. Its owner is Grimlock, and is able to discuss in french, english or spanish (one day, perhaps, in german). As it is possible to check it with the SUL tool of vvv, it has more than 40 bot flags on different wikipedias and wiktionaries and more than 150 000 edits. Grimlock 15:17, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Indeed. My understanding of standard bot policy is that Stewards can grant bot flags to interwiki-only and/or double redirect fixing only bots regardless of bureaucrat activity. But I see that this was recently changed but I can't find a corresponding discussion concerning the change. Magioladitis we on pt.wp are still in the strange situation where we have no crats, and according to our local policy only crats can give permission to operate. So, even if stewards can give the flag, there is now-one to analyze and give permission to the test phase (some locals disagree with my interpretation, but only on the part regarding the test fase). I'd like to say that our wiktionary is growing fast, and it seems that there's no active interwiki bot running in our edition. So, one of the reasons why I ask the bot status is because I'd like to add interwikis without saturating the Recent Changes page.
