Stewards

Unrestricted access to add and remove userrights.
To manipulate membership in global groups, see Special:GlobalGroupMembership.
To change membership on a wiki besides Meta, enter <username>@<dbname>, e.g. Jimbo Wales@enwiki.
Remember to advise new sysops to translate MediaWiki on translatewiki.net.

Local bureaucrats

Add or remove the bot, central notice administrators, uploader, interface administrator and the translation administrator permissions.
Add (but not remove) administrator (sysop) and bureaucrat.
Remove the flood flag from any administrator.
After adding or removing local admins, please update MediaWiki:Gadget-markAdmins-data.json.

Making new local administrators

Type the name of the user in the box (without the User: namespace prefix) and click the button to make the user an administrator.

See also the user rights log.

It is suggested that you include a link to the user's request in the comment field (like this: [[Meta:Requests for adminship/newlyMintedAdmin]]).

After you make someone a sysop, please update (or ask the new admin to update) the Template:List of administrators.

You can notify the newly created sysop on their talk page, and give them some good advice too, by doing this:

{{subst:Template:AdminWelcome/en}}
"personal remarks" ~~~~

You should then mark the candidacy ([[Meta:Requests for adminship/newlyMintedAdmin]]) as successful by adding {{subst:closed request}} at the top to gray it out and </div> at the bottom of the subpage to let folks know it's over. You should explain your rationale if there might be any doubt about consensus. Save the change, untransclude it from Meta:Requests for adminship and add it to Meta:Requests for adminship/Archives by linking to it at the bottom.

You will see that some candidacies have special circumstances you may want to note (second try, failed, request for 'crat, reconfirmation by the community, etc.).

Local administrators

Add and remove the translation administrator and the flood flag from themselves. Preferable that flood flag is set to expire as it takes relative (e.g. 1h) and set times and dates; otherwise please remember to remove the flood flag when you are finished.
Add and remove IP block exemption, MassMessage senders, Event organizers, autopatrollers and patrollers. Noting that patroller, MassMessage sender and event organizer require community requests at Meta:RfH.
