To whom it may concern. In two interventions in this thread, user Lazaro d'Aragón has publicly accused me of being the author of death threats against him: 1) He wrote (in Spanish, automatically translated by Deepl.com) "the user who opens this thread, who I personally believe to be the author of the death threats I've received" (diff ). 2) And again: "who I personally believe to be the author of the death threats I have received is the person who opened this thread" (diff ). This accusation is false and a very serious attack on my honour. The use of the word ‘personally’ does not diminish the seriousness of an accusation that has been made publicly. I request the intervention of a steward and that disciplinary action be imposed on Lazaro commensurate with the seriousness of the accusation. Thank you. Saludos, Lazaro d'Aragón (talk) 14:19, 6 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- Lazaro d'Aragón, although our relations are not good, I am going to ask you a favour. Please, go to a police station in Spain and report the death threats you say you have received, and tell them that you suspect me of being the author. Although I am not going to reveal my real identity here, it is easy to find out with a search engine. Thank you. Pompilos (talk) 14:44, 6 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
Lazaro d'Aragón (talk) 14:48, 6 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- Irony is not a constructive means of communication. The above message is only intended to distract attention from my request (the false accusation that I have addressed death threats to him) and wastes the time of all of us. Pompilos (talk) 23:00, 11 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
Dear Meta sysops. You probably do not resolve my complaint against the false accusation of Lazaro d'Aragón because you think that perhaps Lazaro is telling the truth. I am going to put forward a hypothesis. Imagine that I write a message in which I call Lazaro ‘Rapist’. I am sure you would intervene and delete the insult. If I claimed that the insult was based on the fact that Lazaro actually raped me, you would not evaluate whether or not it is true that he raped me. You would reply me that evaluating it is not Meta sysops' responsibility: that the insult would only stand up in Meta if I provide the court sentence proving that this is so, or maybe not even in this case. Lázaro does not provide any court sentence proving that I have threatened to kill him, not even a complaint against me to the police. In doing so, he is accusing me of a crime and damaging my honor and you, Meta sysops, are tolerating it. This is not fair and it has to stop now. Thank you. This message is sent on behalf of the Wikipedia Asian Month User Group. I joined the Wikipedia Asian Month User Group about two months ago and am currently the main contact for this user group. With the support of our partners from Wikimedia Taiwan, I will be responsible for this year's WAM campaign. Although I am a newcomer, I am working hard to learn about Wikimedia movement matters.
To prepare for this year's WAM campaign, we need to send invitations to past organizers and convene a call to exchange ideas and opinions about this year's campaign. Here is the sending list and the content.
In addition to this call for past organizers, we will also need to send invitations to potential participants and Barnstars to award winners in the future. Therefore, I would like to request permission to use the MassMessage senders tool.
If there are any aspects of this request that require further clarification or if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Thank you very much for your assistance and understanding. Betty2407 (talk) 16:48, 17 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- @Betty2407 please check MassMessage#Global message delivery and my previous remarks again. Ideally the message should include a sentence or at least some links explaining why users got the message and how they can unsubscribe if they no longer want it (most people do this by addling something like
Unsubscribe | Global message delivery
before the signature. - And if you send the message only to metawiki talk pages, you don't need to use links explicitly pointing to meta.
Link
instead ofLink
is only needed if you send the message to talkpages outside metawiki (similarly<div lang="en" dir="ltr">
is not needed if you send the message to metawiki pages only). --Johannnes89 (talk) 05:39, 23 September 2024 (UTC) Reply- Dear Johannnes89,
- Thank you once again for your patience and instruction. These are really helpful for me to learn.
- 1. I have add a sentence in the end "You received this message because you was an organizer in the previous campaigns"to notice the receivers the reason why they got the message.
- 2. I originally didn't understand why the list link should be shown as "unsubscribe," but now I get it. By including the list, receivers can edit it themselves.
- 3. I have already replaced links from
Link
toWords
- I understand that granting this permission to a newcomer may raise some concerns, so it’s okay if you decide not to give me the access for now. I’m prepared to send messages manually for this year's campaign. I will keep learning and doing. Thank you :) Betty2407 (talk) 12:25, 24 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- @Betty2407 regarding your last comment: You can also ask meta admins to send out mass messages you prepared (that's what user usually do if they don't need frequent mass messages).
- I think we are now at a point where you've learned enough to get the permissions (especially if you can still get support by @Joycewikiwiki in case any questions come up). I will wait 2-3 days in case other admins want to comment and grant the permissions if there are no objections. Johannnes89 (talk) 06:15, 25 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
Hi, could you please review these false positives?
Regards,--S Ruiz R ¡Pure life! 16:00, 19 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- I have some suggestions and responses listed
- 1: remove the last two phrases on line 23.
- 2: I emailed a Meta admin to fix the regex due to a mistake.
- 3: Some Meta administrator removed some specific conditions that caused significant false positives.
- 4: I think removing the fourth phrase from line 20 should stop such false positives from happening.
- Thank you. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 18:56, 19 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- @XXBlackburnXx could you take a look at Special:AbuseFilter/132? This keyword [5] has caused these false positives [6], can we safely remove it?
- Special:AbuseFilter/324 has been changed by @EPIC and @1234qwer1234qwer4
- @EPIC could you take a look at Special:AbuseFilter/345? This false positive [7] is caused by this change [8]
- Regarding Special:AbuseFilter/72 and this false positive [9] I don't think we should change it. Similar false positives are not very likely and the specific phase (indeed the fourth phrase from line 20) seems useful to stop spambots?

- I put #1 in log-only. Will review later because I don’t have my computer on hand. -XXBlackburnXx (talk) 08:57, 23 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- The 345 FP was before the filter was changed. The error that caused it was fixed in the last change AFAIK. EPIC (talk) 09:01, 23 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
- oh you're right, I must have tested the wrong filter version when examining the change. Johannnes89 (talk) 09:29, 23 September 2024 (UTC) Reply

- FTR, 4. was indeed already discussed previously and kept. ~~~~

- @Conbene, On hold, generally we expect that people requesting this permission are able to edit wikies and therefore a minimum of edit count is required. Can you confirm that you have read Meta:Event organizers and that you want to apply for this permission? --M/ (talk) 11:05, 26 September 2024 (UTC) Reply

I am requesting event organizer rights to enhance my ability to manage Wikimedia-related events. My involvement in initiatives focused on promoting digital inclusion and amplifying women's contributions includes projects like Hausa Wikipedia. These rights will help me coordinate events effectively and contribute further to our community goals. Thank you for considering my request. A Sulaiman Z (talk) 13:52, 26 September 2024 (UTC) Reply
