You can add metadata to museum photographs or images of items in museum collections, like paintings, sculptures, photographs, historical and natural objects, documents, or anything else you find.

To access all the images on Wikimedia Commons depicting museums, use the Files depicting museums query from the Wikimedia Commons Query Service. It is also possible to check this information using the search:

If you want to add file captions to images of museums, use the query: Captions of files depicting museums. It shows all of the captions in English. Items starting with a "M", followed by a number, are images without a file caption. Those can be edited to have a file caption.

Wikimedia Commons allows Structured Data on Commons statements to be searched. It works in both Media search and Search.

This is possible by using the haswbstatement search, which allows users to look for specific information available on files with Structured Data on Commons.

If you want to search for a file that depicts a particular painting, you would use digital representation of (P6243). For the painting A Wheatfield, with Cypresses (Q26221169), you would search for:
