Pre-conference
[edit ]For those arriving in Adelaide in the early afternoon of November 22nd, some activities will be planned.
To be confirmed - A "behind the scenes" tour of the South Australian Museum is being organised from approx 2.45pm - 5pm. Details to come.
In addition, a preconference and post conference evening meal (self-funded) is planned. (Please notify contact@wikimedia.org.au of your intentions to attend.)
To be confirmed - Friday evening pre-conference meal is likely to be at Little NNQ Vietnamese restaurant, 125 Gouger Street. This is near the Central Market and Chinatown area. Details to be confirmed.
Saturday, November 23
[edit ]To be confirmed - after the conference participants are invited to share a meal and drinks at The Historian hotel, 18 Coromandel Place, Adelaide. Details to be confirmed.
Sunday, November 24
[edit ]- A photo walk in the Adelaide Botanical Garden . Meet in the Ibis hotel lobby at 9 am. (Entrances to the garden are at Entrances: North Terrace, Plane Tree Drive, Hackney Road and Frome Road) Adelaide Botanic Garden Map (where to find various attractions) You may also want to participate in the Chihuly events at the garden.
- A zoo photo walk in the Adelaide Zoo . Meet in the hotel lobby at 9 am. (These two sites are adjacent - Plane Tree Drive entrance). See maps below. Hence we will leave the hotel together and split on arrival.) Adelaide Zoon Map (where to find various attractions)

[edit ]- Free exhibition. Camel trains to steel wheels: Life on the Trans-Australian Railway, National Archives of Australia exhibition, located in the State Library of South Australia, North Terrace. Free exhibition open from 24 August 2024 to 26 January 2025.
- Free. State Library of South Australia, including the historic Mortlock Wing often included in lists of the world's most beautiful libraries, and the modern Spence Wing. Check opening hours as some library spaces and wings open at different times.
- Free event. 2024 Multicultural Festival. Music, dance, food, art and activities. Up to 80 multicultural community organisations will showcase their rich diverse cultures with South Australians. Sunday 24 November 2024, from 12pm to 6pm, in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, Adelaide.
- Feast Festival 2024. A range of events showcasing the LGBTQIA+ community. From cabaret and drag, music, and parties to literature, comedy, workshops and more, enjoy this celebration of Adelaide’s queer community. At a range of venues from 9th to the 24th of November 2024.
- Free and ticketed exhibitions. The Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA) on North Terrace has a range of free exhibitions including Reimagining the Renaissance, Misty Mountain, Shining Moon: Japanese landscape envisioned, and others listed here. A new ticketed exhibition will open costing between 15ドル-30ドル showcasing the work of 100 makers, artists, designers and activists in textiles and fashion Radical Textiles (23 Nov 2024 - 30 Mar 2025)
- Adelaide Central Market. Free audio tour - stream a 50 minute audio-tour on your Apple or Android podcast app, to hear Adam Liaw and Katie Spain guide you through the iconic Central Markets, starting from Gouger Street entrance. Earbuds or headphones are recommended (the Market is very noisy at peak times).
