The VisibleWikiWomen Campaign in Tanzania aims to bring images of women of different color from the global majority to Wikimedia Commons. In Tanzania, there is a significant underrepresentation of women's images across various categories. This program seeks to address this gap by uploading a diverse and comprehensive range of women's pictures to Wikimedia Commons.
The project will focus on enhancing the visibility of women from different backgrounds in areas such as:
- Culture and Lifestyle
- Sports and Physical Activities
- Historical and Notable Women
By promoting a more balanced and inclusive portrayal of women, this campaign will contribute to a richer representation of the diverse experiences and achievements of women in our society.
Participate
[edit ]You can join the #VisibleWikiWomen campaign all year long, by gathering and uploading quality images in the public domain, or under free license, to Wikimedia Commons under the VisibleWikiWomen category. These images can be photographs or drawings of women, as well as images of their work, with proper consent.
