Hello Stewards,

I am Niridya, a french wikipedian and I would like to get the status of Global IP Block Except. I often use a VPN, which is called HMA! Pro VPN, to secure my Internet browsing (generally when I am at school or when I am not at home). I also rarely use Tor Browser when I have no computer.

Hi, I'm a Wikipedian from Mainland China, where Japanese Wikipedia was blocked recently. I make some cross-wiki contributions (not only at Japanese Wikipedia) with the help of proxy sometimes. As a temporary admin in the Swahili Wikipedia and a rollbacker at simp.Wikipedia,I have some experience in handling administrative issues. Also,as days go by,Wikimedia needs a new set of leaders to run the foundation. As a youngster, I would bring in fresh ideas. • Oppose Oppose Per all above and the fact that temp admin on one wiki and rollbacker shows trust but you're talking about the ability to rename 1 person to any username (technically, naturally there are policies) on 800+ public wikis. There is enough existing members in this group to process all requests in a timely manner (no urgent need for new members) and all your edits seem to concentrated on the wikis where you hold rights (not enough cross wiki activity). I'm the project maintainer of the Commons Android app and we are attempting to implement 2FA logins for our app. The developer who is working on it (maskaravivek) has obtained OATH testing rights for his beta account, but this is only valid for the beta server. Err you actually know that if you lose your 2FA device and your 5 backup codes (it takes 2 to disable 2fa if you lose your backup device) there is no way to get into your account unless a user with access to the server removes it (they won't unless you can prove through an off wiki and non email method {which can be documented on wiki} that you are who you say you are). As of my comment, I'm not seeing any pages whatsoever that would reasonably allow someone to say "This is the user behind the account for sure" for you. I therefore have doubts about whether at this time you know how to use 2FA and the risks and recovery methods that you may have to use one day --Sau226 (talk) 06:02, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
