Purger le cache
Since the end of 2004 and beginning of 2005, some editors have expressed the desire to become stewards. At the same time, some editors expressed the regret that there is no steward able to understand japanese or chinese and finally some editors complained current stewards were sometimes too slow to answer requests. For these reasons, a new election to name a couple more stewards will be held in the near future, as soon as we agree on the election rules.

The past year activity showed that to be most useful a steward :

  • had to be available
  • had to participate to Requests for permissions and steward log activity
  • had to be ready to help in many languages (hence be involved in the international community) rather than only in his or her mother language.

We discourage steward activity in one's own language for any removal of status. Developers with shell and database access are not presently allowed to serve as stewards, as one of the goals of the steward system is to separate privileges. See also the current Steward policies.

Removal of status: it is useless to keep in steward list an inactive steward. Activity is show best by activity on "request for permission" (log is sometimes lost). I hence suggest that any steward with no edits on RfP and no mention in the log for 6 months be listed as inactive and with no activity for a year, be removed (see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/rights)

Rules of these elections

New candidates: candidates may shortly state their interlingual interest. Please candidate only if you have read stewards related page and if you intend to help all projects.

Voters: Anyone can vote provided that he has a valid account on meta with a link to at least one user page, on a project where the editor is a participant, with at least 3 months participation (not just to his userpage but) to the project.

Results:

  • In case of suspicion of sock puppetry, developers could be asked to check and sock puppet votes cancelled.
  • Candidates should have at least 80% support (neutral not counted).
  • A minimal number of votes will be required (30)
  • A minimal and/or maximum number of stewards would be ultimately elected (0 minimum, 10 maximum) - the 10 would be those with higher % of support.

  • Danny I would like to run. I go by either User:Danny or User:Dannyisme when the name Danny is taken. I edit in English, Hebrew, and Yiddish, and make additions to other Wikipedias when I can--most recently maps in 10 languages. I also try to keep tabs on what is happening in other projects. Purger le cache
Since the end of 2004 and beginning of 2005, some editors have expressed the desire to become stewards. At the same time, some editors expressed the regret that there is no steward able to understand japanese or chinese and finally some editors complained current stewards were sometimes too slow to answer requests. For these reasons, a new election to name a couple more stewards will be held in the near future, as soon as we agree on the election rules.

The past year activity showed that to be most useful a steward :

  • had to be available
  • had to participate to Requests for permissions and steward log activity
  • had to be ready to help in many languages (hence be involved in the international community) rather than only in his or her mother language.

We discourage steward activity in one's own language for any removal of status. Developers with shell and database access are not presently allowed to serve as stewards, as one of the goals of the steward system is to separate privileges. See also the current Steward policies.

Removal of status: it is useless to keep in steward list an inactive steward. Activity is show best by activity on "request for permission" (log is sometimes lost). I hence suggest that any steward with no edits on RfP and no mention in the log for 6 months be listed as inactive and with no activity for a year, be removed (see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/rights)

  • Snowdog Willing to be of some help. I'm sysop on italian Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikiquote and Wikibooks. Active on other projects basically to disseminate interwikis. Active on meta, mainly for translating Quarto and other stuff. Able to read/write in italian and english. Can read french, spanish, catalan, portuguese, other romance languages. Can read a menu in a german restaurant, can say thanks in russian (spasiba), and "I don't speak finnish" in finnish (Mina en puhu suomea). I'm involved in starting up the italian local chapter of Wikimedia.

  • I ́m en:User:AstroNomer on the English wikipedia, and es:Usuario:Renacimiento (formerly AstroNomo) in the Spanish one. My work in other projects has been sporadic, among them in the Wikimedia site and the Wikimania site for translation work. The previous two languages I can read and speak very well, other romance languages I probably can understand, like portuguese. My knowledge of German is rudimentary, though I wish to improve it.   • I mainly contribute to the french projects (Wikipedia and Wikibooks, and Wiktionary sometimes), but also on german and english projects, and on Wikicommons.
