Aptly known as the King of Melodies, M. K. Arjunan has contributed immense melody songs that are still cherished in the hearts of all the music lovers. Born in the midst of sorrows and poverty in an orphanage. With all the passion he had for music he reached Palani to nurture his musical talents.

His talent for singing and playing harmonium helped him to be a part of the plays run during that time. It was at this venture, when the maestro Music Director G. Devarajan associated Arjunan as a Harmonist with his music troupe Kalidasa Kala Kendram. This surely turned out to be a turning point in his life.

Being with G. Devarajan, helped him to compose music for some plays. It was thus the persons allied with the movie ‘Karutha Pouranami’ handed over the music composition for this movie to Arjunan. Music Maestro G. Devarajan helped Arjunan a lot and also introduced him to his assistant R. K. Shekar. The songs in this movie ‘Hridayamuruki nee karayillenkil’ ‘maanathil muttathu’ were treasured by many music lovers which really had the sorrowful feeling in it.

This helped him to work with many noted Music Directors thus introducing another successful team of Sreekumaran Thampy – Arjunan. The songs ‘Yamune, Priyayamune’ ‘Paadatha veenayum Paadum’, ‘Kasthoori Manakkunnallo’ where the songs that created goosebumps for the malayali music lovers.

From the top-ranking 5 music directors who have composed music for more than 100 movies, obviously Arjunan stood the 4th with composing music for nearly 132 movies.
His modest personality was no impediment to his unleashing talents; it only grew and made him the best contributor to the Malayalam music.
