2000s
Following the 1990s and preceding the 2010s.
The 2000s was a decade that began with the dotcom bust and saw the rapid growth of blogs, blog search engines like Technorati, standards-based web development, the invention (like Atom) and maturation (like RSS 2.0) of modern feed file formats, the inventions of Pingback, microformats, and the emergence of social media silos, and in the latter half web-capable smartphones, all accompanied with a shift to silver or shiny aesthetic.

Aesthetics
Drastically shifting from the 1990s brightly colored translucent aesthetic, the late 1990s into the early 2000s saw the rise of shiny silver or chrome colored devices and products, subsequently dubbed "chromecore". Much of this shift from colorful to uniform was reflected in the designs of websites as well.

The time around 2000 (Y2K) saw quite a shift in aesthetics: graphic flow chart of various products from a few years before and after the year 2000
