ftp

I've setup a COD (conference organization distro) for a yearly environmental conference that works quite well in general. Unfortunately, the group I made this site for is transitioning from a simple HTML site with most changes being uploaded as pdfs via ftp. Traditionally they do most of their changes and communications via documents and files. Instead of providing ftp access, what modules or setups provide a good, safe and clean UI for Files and Documents Organization?

6.x-4.0-BETA1 Has now been released. I am releasing this as beta as there have been major changes and additions and I think its stable enough for a beta. We still need help testing this before its implemented in a production environment. This is a rewrite of the 6.x-3.x branch. The major improvements are listed below:

* FTP Video Attach. (Ability to FTP all your videos at once and then attach the videos through a drop-down)
* FLVTool2 integration.

I have an old site for a client that is still on d5 that I've just moved on to aegir. My client has image galleries that use the import function of the image module. I don't yet have any FTP setup for the client on aegir. I'm hosting on slicehost with ubuntu 9.04. What's the best way to set this up?

In the ongoing process of simplifying module development and reducing the duplication of effort, I'm proposing creating two modules- FTP API and S3 API. These modules will only provide these services and some configuration API. They will not provide a UI for the actual browsing and moving of files. I see the following functionality for each module:

• getting file list from specified directory
• getting file
• putting file
• setting file permissions
• global settings (user/pass, directory)
• per-user settings (optional)
