Document Handling - Elfinder

Posted by jeisel on January 2, 2015 at 4:17pm

We've had this problem for a while in terms of handling a single document that appeared in multiple locations on the site.

(IE, you want the Budget on three different pages, but you don't want three different versions of the Budget floating around).

The problem we'd run into is that we wouldn't know which files were updated and which weren't, because if you loaded a file through the Drupal user interface, it would create a brand new document, instead of updating it.

Files and Documents Organization: Module / Setup Suggestions

Posted by markwk on July 19, 2011 at 3:41am

I've setup a COD (conference organization distro) for a yearly environmental conference that works quite well in general. Unfortunately, the group I made this site for is transitioning from a simple HTML site with most changes being uploaded as pdfs via ftp. Traditionally they do most of their changes and communications via documents and files. Instead of providing ftp access, what modules or setups provide a good, safe and clean UI for Files and Documents Organization?

Thanks...

Now that the group is out of moderation I feel comfortable announcing this group. Drupal is not and does not provide a document management system (DMS). However, by creatively assembling a few modules it is possible to provide a limited amount of functionality. I've created this group to discuss strategies for managing documents in Drupal.
