Drupal and OpenSocial, for real

Posted by mercmobily on September 27, 2008 at 10:07am

Hi,

After completing a working Activity Log module, and what I consider a state of the art FriendList module, I am now about to start phase 3 of my project: making sure that Drupal is able to be an OpenSocial container.

After a bit of research, I found:

Drupal effectively ignoring OpenSocial is a huge problem, that needs fixing.
So, here is what I would like to know:

Is there any MySpace analog to this group?

Posted by Mike Sances on July 24, 2008 at 5:31pm

MySpace is apparently opening up their platform, creating the possibility for a Facebook-API-type module that lets people sign into Drupal sites with their MySpace account.

Info here: http://developer.myspace.com/Community/blogs/devteam/archive/2008/06/26/...

Is there a Group for MySpace just as there is for Facebook on groups.drupal.org? I searched, and couldn't find anything. Would anyone else here be interested in starting one?

Drupal loves OpenSocial?

Posted by mav14 on April 8, 2008 at 5:52pm

Hello there,

I'm a student Communication Multimedia Design - currently doing a graduation investigation and project about the "Integration of social networking sites in Drupal".

Investigation

My investigation brings me first to a technical question: which current (Drupal 5) modules give an answer to this question?

I did an investigation and found 19 contributed modules that make integration possible for content coming from a typical social networking site into Drupal.

  • Activity Stream
  • Advogato
  • Delicious
  • Digg this

OpenSocial integration

Posted by kyanos on March 18, 2008 at 12:37pm

OpenSocial provides a common set of APIs for social applications across multiple websites. Using standard JavaScript and HTML, they enable developers to create apps that access a social network's friends and update feeds.
Common APIs mean you have less to learn to build for multiple websites. OpenSocial is being developed by Google in conjunction with members of the web community. The ultimate goal is for any social website to be able to implement the APIs and host 3rd party social applications.

Trying OpenSocial once more.

Posted by scripthead on January 22, 2008 at 2:22pm

There was a previous attempt at integrating OpenSocial into Drupal. My hope is this one will be more successful.

As it stands now the RESTful API aren't ready for but there's plenty of documentation to get an early start. I am planning on jump starting the server-based part of this project by evaluating the existing REST API.

Open Social Primer

This is my book report on information provided by Google. As such I am simply taking Google's word for most of this. At this time there is much information missing, particularly for creating OpenSocial ready services (SPI / Containers). There are also some missing (documented, but not yet implemented) features (for example OpenSocial Data APIs). And none of the high profile partners (from what I can tell) have 'turned on' their OpenSocial services or features.

New Drupal Project - OpenSocial

Posted by lyricnz on November 1, 2007 at 9:57pm

This is just a quick note to let you all know I have created a new project to support the APIs provided by Google as part of the OpenSocial Project. Of course, this is all brand new, so we're not exactly sure how it's going to work with Drupal, but I'm definitely interested in getting you all onboard!
