What's the best way to accept recurring donations from within site?

Hi all,

What are nonprofits doing to ensure a smooth donation process, including 'in memory' and recurring donations without leaving your website?

I'm working on a website for a nonprofit animal-related organization, and I wanted to find the best way to accept donations via paypal WITHOUT being taken to the paypal page.

We're currently using CiviCRM, which does this trick, but the new site will not have CiviCRM. It's in Drupal 7.

Should I go with a PayPal API integration? If so, I think that's beyond my expertise and would likely need to hire someone for that.

Ways to donate

Posted by ronan on November 9, 2007 at 6:33pm

Just wanted to put up some ideas for where to spend the money being given back.

Obviously anything mentioned on this page should count as a valid giveback:
http://drupal.org/contribute/donations

The most obvious and valuable ones being a donation to the Association, or to OSUOSL to help with hosting of drupal.org. Association membership fees should probably count against (towards?) your giveback amount.

Giving money to sponsor a local (or non-local) Drupal event or meeting should probably count.

After the excellent work from yoroy in the Donate spotlight banner (now in rotation on Drupal.org) I am back again to request help for another design issue for the Drupal.org website. We want to prominantly place a donate link on the Drupal.org site that shows on all pages. We are requesting design ideas for how to implement this into the current BlueBeach theme. Yoroy has again stepped forward with a design proposal:

Adding comments/details/designation to e-commerce donation

Posted by steingard on April 13, 2007 at 2:09pm

I have E-Commerce 5.x-3.0 running in Drupal 5.1 where I have projects setup where people can donate toward the projects I have setup with target 'goal' prices, but I need the ability for them to either:

a) have a field in the checkout where they can designate what component of the project they want to donate towards
b) utilize the subproduct module to allow users to literally pick a component of the project and add it to the shopping cart

I tried doing this with the existing subproduct module, but it is uniquely designed to interact with physical products such as apparel.
