Easy authentication for children and adults?

Posted by brylie on October 10, 2014 at 10:14am

Hi all,

I am trying to think of ways that users of all ages can register and authenticate on a site without the traditional username/password. Examples like clicking on a series of images, dragging colored blocks into a sequence, or other 'brain friendly' methods would be great.

What are your thoughts on and experiences with 'passwordless' authentication? What are some solutions that have become popular? What are some innovative ideas that need testing?

Cheers!

Integrated LDAP/windows authentication in OA2

Posted by magsiyer on August 12, 2013 at 3:07pm

I am looking at OA2 for our intranet and one of the things I am coming across is integrated windows authentication. I downloaded an LDAP module and after doing that I can access a login page and login with my windows credentials. However, I am looking at couple of things and would like input on how I can achieve them

Projects, shows, members and VODs

Posted by westis on June 11, 2013 at 6:40am

We're thinking about the best way to use shows, projects and VODs and the workflow around them. Currently only organizations can be members, although we also air shows by individuals or other organizations that are not members. However, we're moving towards a freemium model where it will be free to broadcast ready-made content, but other services will cost, which makes it easier for anyone to broadcast good content.

Members -> Series -> Shows

Authentication and login using Eventbrite Api

Posted by Techbot on April 8, 2013 at 12:20pm

Hi all,

The site I'm currently building requires all registered members to also attend a conference.

So I was thinking of using eventbrite. But more than that I was hoping that I could use eventbrites api to authenticate users, so they would only have to register with eventbrite and not with the drupal site. I would then use a logi n with eventbrite for daily use (similar to login with facebook , twitter etc).

Has anyone any experience with bypassing the drupal authentication, does this sound feasable?

thanks
Rob

High Performance Drupal 7 Authenticated User Benchmarks

Posted by simg on January 29, 2012 at 6:53pm

Hi All,

I just thought you might be interested to see some performance benchmarks that I've produced recently whilst doing some work porting the Authcache module to D7.

I think the results are "pretty encouraging". What do you think :) ?

summary: ~1000 fold increase in authenticated user performance, 5 fold increase for anonymous users
1200 requests per second @ 2.5ms per request on a very modest single server.

|Benchmark|Requests|Concurrency|Total
Time Taken/s|Requests/s|Avg
Time Per
Request/ms|Time Per

External database authentication

Posted by tmuras on April 12, 2011 at 9:06am

I'm considering writing a module for Drupal 7 that will allow for authenticating users against external database. I like the way this is handled in Moodle - see the attached screen-shot. The only similar module I've found is:
* http://drupal.org/project/sql_auth

What do you think?

SAML Authentication Module

Posted by geekwisdom on February 17, 2011 at 5:30pm

I have recently taken over the maintenance of the simplesamlphp_auth module, which is not currently hosted at Drupal.org. I would like to move the project to Drupal.org but wanted to follow the Drupal protocol of posting here for discussion first.

Centralized authentication for Drupal & Moodle

Posted by tkrajcar on January 7, 2011 at 10:59pm

Hi all,

Looking for some ideas on the right solution here. We are building several Drupal sites with a common user audience. These users also will be accessing Moodle content via hyperlinks from Drupal (i.e. we are not directly integrating Drupal and Moodle).

Looking for a centralized authentication server implementation that can:

<

ul>

  • protect both Drupal and Moodle sites
  • support true single sign-on (i.e. no re-prompting for credentials when users go from one Drupal site to another, or from Drupal to Moodle, or from Moodle to Drupal

Import existing LDAP users into drupal

Posted by bstoppel on October 30, 2009 at 9:25pm

I am building a new drupal site and need to import my existing LDAP users in order to fully configure the system and set up the content. AFAIK there is no way of importing existing LDAP users into drupal. When I use LDAP Provisioning, it wants to create LDAP users as well as Drupal users. When a user logs in for the first time, their LDAP information is imported. But I need to mass import all existing LDAP users without requiring them to login the first time.

    Thanks.
