Hide multisite from search engines

Posted by superfedya on August 21, 2012 at 1:29am

Hi,

I have a multisite for my mobile version, but I found the links to it in google. Duplicated content is really bad for SEO.

I cannot put robots.txt because it uses the same folder that already have robots.txt.

Any way to hide my mobile version site for the search engines?

Thanks

How well is Drupal calendar content recognized by search engines?

Posted by Brainwrap on August 24, 2011 at 12:57am

I have a client who's been using an ancient (by web standards) Perl-based calendar script program (called, dully enough, "CalendarScript", which hasn't been updated in years.

I've recently converted other parts of her site over to Drupal 6.x, and have been strongly recommending moving off of this old calendar script out of both security concerns and usability reasons. However, she's used it for many years and is reluctant to abandon it.

SEO consequences from transfering tld's to sub domains

Posted by picxelplay on August 20, 2011 at 8:16am

We have a client that has multiple top level domains for the products they offer. These products are different full fledged softwares. They also have a domain for their actual company that makes these products. We are consolidating their sites so that all of them can be managed by one backend. One of our developers suggested to consolidate even more by moving their product tld's into sub domains of the company site.

So instead of this:
http://company.com
http://product1.com
http://product2.com
http://product3.com
http://product4.com

It would be this:
http://company.com

Problem with thousands of pages made by refine by taxonomy and search engines

Posted by FlemmingLeer on September 9, 2008 at 9:58am

I enabled the module: refine by taxonomy, http://drupal.org/project/refine_by_taxo a while back and didn't think much about it until I discovered in Google Webmaster Tools that it produced some 50.000 additional pages which of-course was indexed by Googlebot !

My site has some 6.500 nodes at the time being covering politics in Denmark with the option for 12 taxonomies on each refine by taxonomy page. I have some 500 taxonomies defined. Refine by taxonomy is currently only avialable on Drupal 5.x

Fuzzysearch Module Initial Release

Posted by BlakeLucchesi on August 9, 2007 at 8:03am

The Fuzzysearch module is now available for testing and feedback. The results being returned during my tests have thus far been quite good and performance has been better than search.module (overall query times and page generation times were faster with fuzzysearch.module, testing based on results displayed by devel.module).

Please try it out if you have a chance and leave me some feedback/post issues on the project page.

http://drupal.org/project/fuzzysearch

You can try out the module and read more information about the release on my blog http://boldsource.com

Announcing the Drupal SEO Podcast

Posted by ben finklea on July 15, 2007 at 3:00am

Greetings! I would like to announce that SpryDev today launched the Drupal SEO Podcast at http://www.sprydev.com/podcast. Over the coming months we'll be exploring all aspects of SEO on Drupal. I wanted to start out with the basics so the first podcast is rather short and covers the Page Title module. I know that's pretty basic stuff for this crowd but we wanted to get the ball rolling and it seemed a good place to start. If you have any suggestions for future topics, please let me know.

Fuzzy Search Scoring Hook (SoC Update)

Posted by BlakeLucchesi on July 13, 2007 at 8:58am

I'm contemplating how to implement a scoring factor hook into my new fuzzy search engine module. I believe what may work out to be the best way of doing this is allowing modules to tap into this scoring hook at the time of indexing.

Each hook should return a value between 0 and 10 as a score to add to the node being indexed. Then in the administration screen an administrator would be able to set the importance of the score given by that hook. This would allow the administrator of a drupal site to manage the scoring from different contributed modules.

I'm starting to build a search engine company primarily targetting small and medium businesses to a) Transition to Drupal and b) To get their SEO/SEM business. I wanted to bounce of the theme http://www.surgeboom.com. We are not even ready at alpha stage but I think the theme is coming along.

Would love to have feedback.

Fuzzy Techniques and Implementation

Posted by BlakeLucchesi on May 18, 2007 at 8:52am

I've been doing my best to wrap my head around ways to make drupal more fuzzy search capable. The following are some goals of fuzzy search and I guess some comments. I'm not exactly sure how this will help as of now, but I really feel like along with improving the search engine's speed we should look at ways to provide more relevant results.
