Project Creation - Adding user selected sections to a new space

Posted by guerinteedmike on January 13, 2016 at 5:23pm

I am looking for guidance on how to best create a system to allow a group of users to create customizable projects. Requirement is that a project (space) should be able to add various project needs (sections). This includes allowing users and different internal teams to have custom versions of a section(s). The solution should be easy for project admins to use.

I know there is a means to blueprint but it seems that I will never be able to create every one of the options needed.

My initial thoughts:

Display Custom Menu Based on Parent Space

Posted by wcDogg on March 10, 2015 at 10:38pm

We’re using OA to build a single site that "feels" like two. To accomplish this, we have two parent spaces each with a combination of subspaces and sections.

To feel like two separate sites, each parent space needs to have its own top navigation that remains visible no matter where the user is within that space.

Think traditional top navigation as compared to OA Breadcrumbs, Group menu, and Menu Selected By Page – all of which change depending on where the user is in a space and/or rely on the page having a menu entry.

Posted by drawde.um on December 22, 2014 at 5:17pm

I have installed the latest version of open atrium but i am experiencing the following challenges.

<

ol>

  • have added a few fields to the OA Wiki Page content type. My problem is that when i try to view the wiki page i created i don't see the extra fields i added.
  • I double checked in the Manage Display tab of the content type to make sure the fields were not hidden but they still don't show up. How do i get the new fields i added to show up on the OA wiki page?

    OA2 and Spaces

Posted by rbolger on January 14, 2014 at 9:46pm

Hi - New member to the OA community.
I had a question - if I were setting up a site for a large corporation, would I set up a global space for everyone in the corporation, followed by subspaces at the regional, departmental level, etc? The reason I ask is I want some resources to be available globally, and not just to particular spaces. I didn't know if globally meant no space at all, or if it needed to be declared as a global space.
    Thanks!
    Ryan

    OpenPublish with organic groups

Posted by NivBK on August 30, 2011 at 11:46am

    Hello,
I have these major problem with a clean install of open publish with organic groups installed.
somehow drupal 6 can't determine the group path and always build links with the original site base url.
I believe it has to do with spaces.

Has anyone encountered an issue like this?

    Thanks,

    ¿Para que sirve Spaces?

    Posted by oskar_calvo on August 12, 2011 at 5:45pm

    Buenas gente,

Recommendations and Best Practices for making MySQL DB changes per tuning-primer.sh and mysql slow table log.

Posted by socialnicheguru on March 15, 2011 at 2:18pm

    I am running tuning-primer.sh and mysqltuner.pl

    mysqltuner.pl says:
    General recommendations:
Run OPTIMIZE TABLE to defragment tables for better performance
Adjust your join queries to always utilize indexes
When making adjustments, make tmp_table_size/max_heap_table_size equal
Reduce your SELECT DISTINCT queries without LIMIT clauses
Increase table_cache gradually to avoid file descriptor limits
    Variables to adjust:
join_buffer_size (> 128.0K, or always use indexes with joins)
    tmp_table_size (> 50M)
    max_heap_table_size (> 50M)

    Open university system

Posted by Daniel A. Beilinson on September 23, 2010 at 9:45pm

    Hello friends!
I hear at the acquia webinar that OpenScholar planing to integrate some university functional.
I discussed few projects for universities and large medical centers and I think that such sites need microsites with own spaces and features for faculties or departments.
I decided to built this system. I think this system could be very expected, because it meets requirments of large communities. Imagine community of some association with main site and many microsites of organizations who make this community.

Groups, Spaces, Context, Features...Do I need all those?

Posted by harcher on October 1, 2009 at 2:50am

I'm building a website that consist of a main website and three office locations/branches websites. The main website pulls content from all three locations.

Location websites must have a 'home page' with a unique url, as well as the main website ofcourse. Each location must have an allocated admin role that can manage that location content only.

Build group features of modules that does not use views?

Posted by vegardjo on September 8, 2009 at 11:05am

Hia, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm struggling to build (OG) features of modules that does not use Views, as I do not know how to filter for Space without Views.. With Views you select the spaces filter, and set for instance "show nothing" when node is not in space.

But, what if the feature I wish to build does not use Views? Am I out of luck?
