Semantic Web

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

Welcome to the Semantic Web group in Drupal. This group was started at DrupalCon Barcelona 2007 and includes discussions on how to integrate the Semantic Web technologies into Drupal and list the various effort of the community towards enabling RDF in Drupal. Drupal 7 comes with native RDFa support in core. If you want extra RDF capabilities such as other serialization formats and SPARQL support, checkout the RDF Extensions, SPARQL and SPARQL Views contributed projects. If you need support or have found a bug in one of the fore mentioned projects, please file a ticket in their issue tracker (block on the right on each project page).

State of semantic support in Drupal 8?

Posted by Deno on January 8, 2019 at 12:28pm

Once upon a time, D7 was a promising platform for linked data. Looking at D8, it would seem that most of the functionality hasn't made it to D8 and the D7 semantic web modules weren't ported to D8.

What is currently usable in D8?

I can see https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/api/rdf-mapping-api and a few projects by Martin Schauer (PoolParty) https://www.drupal.org/u/martin-schauer. Other than that?

options for SKOS integration in Drupal 8

Posted by Fransie on May 8, 2017 at 11:41am

Hi! I am trying to investigate the options for exposing existing SKOS thesauri files in Drupal 8.
Functionality that I am looking for is:
1) Being able to use the SKOS thesaurus as a taxonomy for the drupal site.
2) Providing user-friendly access to the SKOS thesaurus, including free text search.
3) Keeping the original URIs intact.

Additionally, I think a SPARQL endpoint for the SKOS data would be welcome.

Any interest in expanding Drupal 8 Semantic Web capabilities for a faceted directory?

Posted by bkudrle on November 4, 2016 at 12:37am

I have mostly been away from the Semantic Web (SW) development since Drupal 7. Now that I look at the state of the SW tools in Drupal 8, it seems to have tapered off somewhat. There is the EasyRDF library that has been put into core, which is a positive. But I don't see much use of it in core or in other modules or in the D8 examples (although there was a start at https://www.drupal.org/node/2102705).

Extending IKScE Demo Module with RDFa

Posted by bshambaugh on January 31, 2016 at 4:49am

Dear All,

I was checking out the IKS Content Enhancement Demo for Drupal 7 [1]. This involves annotate.js [2] in conjunction with Wolfgang Ziegler's combination of Drupal, Apache Stanbol, and VIE.js [3].
I like what the code makes possible, but I would like the change the substitution that jQuery gives for each annotation.
Right now I see markup that does not serialize to RDF inside the "content:enconded" tags. I believe changing line 895
for newElement in [2] would allow me to add some RDFa content.

How does one change the RDF namespaces from the publishing settings page?

Posted by tr3v0 on September 18, 2015 at 7:19pm

I've been experimenting with the sparql_views module to pull RDF and I've somehow managed to mess up the namespaces, resulting in RDF namespace conflicts. How can I delete the incorrect mappings from the RDF publishing settings page?

Current best practice

Posted by natuk on February 9, 2015 at 12:50pm

Hello, is there a document which summarises current best practices for the use of the various RDF extensions? Is a Drupal-based SPARQL endpoint feasible and practical at the moment? Some of the extensions seem less busy in terms of development.

While a large part of the Drupal community is focusing on and getting excited about Drupal 8, it doesn't mean that Drupal 7 isn't getting any love! The latest version Drupal 7.33 includes several improvements for the RDF module which I thought this group would be interested to hear about.

D7 module for linking term reference fields to external providers such as Freebase, Dbpedia.

Posted by jcalais on August 8, 2014 at 7:17am

Hi everyone.

I just joined this group and wanted to let you know about an effort of ours to create a module to fetch taxonomy terms from external sources. This would mean no more free hand tags and instead the autocomplete field keyword searches a bunch of providers through their open apis.

The providers are modular in nature, so anyone can make a new provider for the base module, which is called Yild (Yild - integrator for Linked Data).

Export data in RDF

Posted by mvrweb on June 23, 2014 at 2:47am

Instead of appending the URLs with .nt or .rdf as in /node/66.nt, I want to provide an explicit link or button so that users can select the export format and click it. Is there any easy way, preferably through UI to do this? This should be associated with all the items of a specific content type.

Apart from nt and rdf/xml formats, how can I enable other formats? I installed RESTful Web Services but couldn't figure out where/how to enable the other formats.

Thanks in advance.
