Documentation Team Leadership Change

A little over 18 months ago, Ariane K. and I started our tenure as co-leaders of the Drupal Documentation Team. We spent a lot of time working on organization, design, processes, and tools to make it easier for Drupalists to contribute to and use Drupal documentation, and I’m very proud of the many improvements we were able to make (of course, with the help of lots of other contributors!) during that time.

Drupal 8 Plugins and Plugin Type DX

The proposed plugin system that is a foundational component for scotch is in the issue queue and has been heavily reviewed by core and plugins developers. In an effort to satisfy certain DX concerns with the Plugin system, an example plugin type module (with associated plugins) and significant documentation have been created. In the hopes that we could illicit the opinions of developers who are not currently involved in the discussion, two issues have been created with relatively simple tasks outlined.

WSCCI Web Services Format Sprint Report

A small team met in Paris at the office of Commerce Guys from June 3-5th to discuss Drupal's web services serialization and syndication format needs. In short, "OK, we are going to have all of this fun new routing capability, now what do we do with it?" More specifically, how do we go about serializing Drupal data for consumption by remote programs (either other Drupal sites as in the case of content staging, other non-Drupal sites, client-side applications, or mobile apps), and what protocols and APIs do we make available to manipulate that data?
