Acquia Marina Subtheme Help - Primary menu vertical alignment

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi,

I'm developing a site at the moment and have hit a brick wall that has me going round in loops for weeks now.

Essentially I have a Acquia Marina subtheme that I have created. All works well except for one thing:

I have fixed width and height of the primary divs that contain the links to meet the design requirements.
My issue is that when there is a single line link it aligns to the top of the div. longer links wrap and are aligned vertically correctly (the font and line height allow them to appear vertically centre aligned).

I have tried using the table method to align them but this throws off my submenus.
I have also tried a few other pure CSS methods to no avail.
At this stage I'm getting to close to offering someone some cash to have a look at this one issue.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated or anybody willing take a look at the problem for cash would also be apprecited.

I just want to get the job done, out the door and get paid.

Make sure CSS aggregation is switched off.
Somebody might be able to have a look.

Thanks for the reply.

I thought this may solve it but I'd already disabled that while troubleshooting another issue.

I think the issue is more to do with the CSS that is used in the the theme and what I'm trying to do.

If you think it's a CSS issue

If you think it's a CSS issue I reckon your best bet is to post the CSS/HTML. Ideally post a live page that shows the problem. If you don't want to post the site you're working on just set up a single page with only the menu and no content/logo etc.

I was about to put the site up and post a link, but decided to have one more go at it.

It got the table method (not clean css, I know) to work nicely and off course just as I was patting myself on the back I checked in IE7 and it didn't like that, but IE8 and Firefox and IE6 have no problem. Now its on to tweaking my IE7 stylesheet.

I'll tinker a bit more before posting here again.

Thanks for the replies.

I have the menu working the way I want in Firefox and IE8 although the height of secondary menu is not matching in IE8, minor niggle compared to bigger issue below.

The main problem I have now is in IE7 the third menu doesn't appear. With some tinkering I got it to appear but it makes the link that spawns it disappear. I've set it back to the way it was. As far as I can tell its to do with the "position" attribute.

Here is a link to the running site:

Rollover "community development" and the menu wil show up fine in FF and IE8
If you do the same in IE7 no menu.

I'm using IE dev tools and firebug to try and locate the exact css I need to change in my IE7 css file but I'm no CSS guru so its hit and miss.

Any suggestions for the IE7 issue and a possilbe solution for the IE8 issue would be much appreciated.

I found my third menu and have it working fine in all browsers.

I'm still trying to get vertical centre align in all browsers. Works in FF and IE8 not in IE6 or 7

Hi,

Here's what I do with Firebug. Hope that helps.
1- Open Firebug
2- Select the rectangular icon (second from left bar)
3- Hover with your mouse to the elements you want to inspect
4- When doing so, pay attention to the CSS code displayed in right-side textfield
5- When you find the element you want to change, go back to the theme template (often called local.tpl something)
6- Change to whatever you want to change to
7- Save and refresh using F5
