Too Much SPAM

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I've marked a lot of comments, posts and users as SPAM today. Also, it took some time to delete them from my e-mail inbox.

What should we do? How do we proceed? SPAM attacks are getting bigger day by day.

Locations of Group Admins

I guess that, we need more Asian, European and African users, who has permission to delete content & users marked as spam.

We're still receiving SPAM content from the users, whom I marked as spam hours ago. Maybe there is no awake and available group admins to delete spam content & users.

I agree. 100+ spams in my inbox in a few hours.
I marked users as spammers too. I hope some admin will show soon :)

It's almost 10 hours, I've been deleting SPAM notifications from my inbox. No moderator / admin show up.

I have deleted at least 500 spam nodes just today, without counting the comments.

It would help if new users should not be allowed to create so much nodes, or that their nodes past the first three weren't published in the first X days.

Great Solution

It could be the right choice for everyone.

The plan was to move GDO to a section of DO, which already uses OG for its content. I take GDO is on its "limbo" state, for now.

GDO is still using Drupal 6, so using the same tools DO has is a bit complicated. The features used from DO are for Drupal 7.

I am totally agreeing with kiamlaluno, Shall we make only confirmed users to access GDO ?

Given the recent events...

I would agree on that.

Spammers started to post just on groups.drupal.org because on drupal.org they would be immediately blocked. Linking the permissions of a user to the activity on the main site would probably help in finding out spammers.

First, thanks to everyone

First, thanks to everyone here for the spam fighting efforts. All of drupal.org's sub sites have been getting hit pretty hard with spam this past month. The delay in removal is indeed a resource/timezone issue.

Orkut, I've granted you the spam killer role, your long involvement and good standing in the community makes you a great candidate.

Thanks you:)

I'm so excited and so glad to have this role. Being a more helpful member of such a beautiful community is great for me.

I should also note, we have tightened up permissions for posting comments and discussions on groups we will re-review the changes once the spam dies off a bit.
