Hi,

Just wondering if we can get active. Is it possible to organize a meet up some time soon and get the group active again? The group has 52 members which makes a good quorum

thanks

The meetup didn't happen. We had not settled on the date, plus only one person confirmed that the proposed venue was convenient.

Can we reopen this meetup, and have people to sign up? This will help in knowing who will be attending the event.

Any suggestions?

October/November Drupal Meetup?

Posted by thoswall on October 22, 2015 at 12:53pm

Sounds like a plan. Is it possible we can organize a meetup for early November? You can count me in to join at iHub or wherever.

I think the date is set: 19

I think the date is set: 19 November Drupal 8 will be released and all over the world people are organising Drupal 8 Release parties.

kimarudg, can you ask the iHub if they can host the party?

mutuku, can you create the event here on the Group page? Dont worry if you do not know all the details yet, they will come, no worries.

You can even select 'Drupal 8 Release Party' from the Event Type select box. And I think that will automatically add it to: http://www.drupical.com/

Just quickly read the instructions at the top of this page, to make sure your release party gets noticed: https://groups.drupal.org/drupal-8-release-parties

If you are quick, you'll be listed there before the Ugandans :-)

Will report back

I will ask them and give feedback on this page.

Can we create an even on EventBrite and share it on facebook and twitter? If each of us shared this, I am sure we can get more people to sign up.

I have created the event on drupal.org. https://groups.drupal.org/node/489113

Kimaru, please let us know once you confirm the venue so that I can create the event on EventBrite

Posted by kimarudg on November 5, 2015 at 6:12pm

I have confirmed that iHub is available on 19th Nov. We are required to pay Ksh50,000 for 3 hours or Ksh100,000 for more than 3hours.

I am scheduled to meet the iHub people on 6th Nov to discuss the specifics. I would like to know:

  1. Time of the event
  2. Expected number of guests
  3. Actual Activities that we shall be undertaking
  4. Refreshments etc

Mutuku and Batje, can we come up with these ASAP?

A good date

What do you guys & girls want

Posted by batje on November 6, 2015 at 9:45am

What do you guys & girls want to do? Is there anyone who can give a presentation about Drupal 8? (There are plenty online, and you still have time to prepare) Or do you just want to have a beer together?

Hi, I got a private message

Posted by batje on November 12, 2015 at 10:01am

Hi,

I got a private message asking for some feedback. Let's do that here.

If the locaton is confirmed, then let's confirm it on the event page, too.

I came across this presentation about Drupal 8:

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1GXK1dBSe6_QMhSkNwsgocWynlzdQFrMU...

Is anyone willing to go over those slides a few times and then present them at the event?

Is there anyone else who would like to show anything Drupal related?

Then, when the event page has at least the time & location (and preferably some text about how cool the event will be and that it is a Celebration, we should all be starting to invite people via twitter and the relevant Kenyan mailinglists.

I wont be able to attend the event in person, but all who do, realize you are part of a very very big community of people. No matter where you are.

PS: if you want to record a small promo video for Drupal 8 and be famous, please contact me privately for instructions. That would be much appreciated.
