Drupal in Kenya

Posted by tom_eric on May 12, 2016 at 11:01pm

Hi

My name is Tom Erickson, and I am the CEO of Acquia. I partnered with Drupal creator Dries Buytaert to start Acquia in 2007/2008.

I noticed that the Drupal group in Kenya is very quiet, and that the government sites are built in Joomla. I am curious if there is any particular reason for this. Is there a way to make the Drupal community stronger?

I will be visiting Kenya in June on a family holiday, thus the curiosity.

Cheers
Tom

Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

With DrupalCon Amsterdam coming up, let's meet up with the Kenyan Drupal Community and give eachother an update of what is going on with Drupal in East-Africa.

Drupal is steadily growing in Uganda (the biggest Ugandan website in 2013 was powered by Drupal) and there is work being done on SMS, mapping, graphing etc.

I'd also be very interested to learn what is happening in Kenya.

Location: iHub (tentative, they have not confirmed yet.)

Extending availability of Payment Gateways to Drupal

Posted by john mark maina on March 21, 2013 at 7:49am

In the spirit of opening up more payment options for e-commerce & mobile money, I had a look @ http://www.ipayafrica.com/ and the services they offer. It seems okay but unfortunately there is no Drupal integration of any kind. May I suggest that we should look into these many payment gateways and integrate them with drupal either through drupal commerce or ubercart or even better we can come up with our very own own product that incorporates and integrates with the aforementioned scope.

My idea is a virtual sprint on the weekend of February. Let me hear your sentiments on this.
