Ohioans and DrupalCon San Fran

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Just wondering if any Ohioans will be attending DrupalCon San Fran? I'm an Ohio native living in British Columbia and my coworkers and I from northStudio.com will be making the trip. Would love to meet up with some Midwest Drupal users. :)

I'm going!

Posted by mradcliffe on January 21, 2010 at 1:52pm

Steve, Brad, and I from Kosada will be attending again this year. And I'm pretty sure I heard Jim (jalama) from Rooty Hollow is going as well.

Brad and I were thinking about going to Yoshi's one night, but haven't scheduled anything. It's a sushi and jazz club.

I grew up out in the Bay Area so if you have any questions about S.F. feel free to ask. Like if you want to stay in West Oakland or not.

Perfect!

Hey guys,

Yoshi's sounds great! Ironically, we work next to a restaurant in BC called Yoshi Sushi and it's one of our favorites. LOL. Looking forward to the San Fran version with a lil bit of Jazz music to go along.

Just keep me posted on the time/day you guys decide on. :)

We are looking at staying at the Mosser or the Donatello - something close to the Moscone Center, middle of the road, and affordable. Any thoughts?

I'll be there

Posted by bigjim on January 21, 2010 at 2:01pm

Yep I'm there also. I'ld be down for Sushi.

Same

At least four of us from Cincinnati will be out there, sushi and jazz would be an excellent combination.

Posted by dougvann on January 26, 2010 at 12:50am

There's at least 5 of us from Indiana going.
I've proposed 3 sessions.
Has any one else from the midwest proposed?

http://www.kayak.com/ is a great place to check for low fares. Good luck!

Routes To California

Posted by mradcliffe on January 26, 2010 at 5:09pm

There are direct flights to SFO from Cleveland via Continental. If you like to drive, you can get a direct flight from Pittsburgh on US Airways.

As a frequent traveler to California (born and raised) you're going to be looking at 300-400 as a minimum, and should be satisfied with that price range.

I miss Skybus for the short time they were around :(

Another one from Columbus

I'll be there as well.

One more from Cincinnati

I am about 99% sure I'll be heading out.

Sailing

Posted by mradcliffe on February 28, 2010 at 12:13am

I was chatting with my dad today, and we decided that we'd go sailing on Sunday, April 18 as I probably won't have anything planned for the conference on that day. That's depending on the unconference happenings that day too. If anyone's interested in perhaps joining in for a leisurely sail (think beer or an ice cream stop) my dad would be happy to accommodate others. The weather should be pretty good this time of year, and the winds not too harsh.

We would probably sail into the marina area and then go out either around alcatraz, angel island and tiburon, and/or doddle around the golden gate.

Also, I've been eyeing the schedule at Yoshi's San Francisco (or Yoshi's Oakland), but they haven't put up all their gigs for April yet. That should be up in the next couple of weeks though.

Time/Date?

Posted by partmapleleaf on April 12, 2010 at 6:01pm

Did we decide on a time/date to meet up for sushi and drinks? :)

P.S. - Def wish I could get out for a sail - have a great time!

Brad, Steve, and I are going to take in a show at Yoshi's Oakland on Monday night. We'll need to skip out of the last session about 10 minutes before it ends to make it to the BART station to get there in time. Yoshi's likes you to have at least an hour-prior-to-the-show dinner reservation if you're eating there.

In retrospect I think it'd be too much of a rush for an Ohio get together to have it at Yoshi's.

Lunch or Dinner at Chevy's near Moscone Tex/Mex would be convenient. I've been to this particular location before and it doesn't deserve the 1s and 2s it's getting. It's perfectly acceptable tex-mex food.

Here's a better idea. Let's all meet at 6:30pm to 6:45pm Tuesday night somewhere inside Moscone, shake our iphones (not me, I don't have one), and then find a place at random. There are too many good restaurants in San Francisco to just choose one. ;-)

Good Deal

Posted by partmapleleaf on April 12, 2010 at 6:32pm

Sounds like a plan to me.

But considering the international charges - my iPhone will be off, lol. ;)

A couple of my coworkers may join us. We are all big sushi fans. Is there another good place to try?

Another one From Columbus as well.

Posted by tomseeber on April 12, 2010 at 6:43pm

I will be coming from Columbus, I would love to get some Sushi or meet up with people. :)

In terms of meeting up. How

Posted by mradcliffe on April 19, 2010 at 3:11pm

In terms of meeting up. How about we meet up around one of the couch areas on Tuesday.

If you see any of us around say hi!

Sounds good!

Posted by partmapleleaf on April 19, 2010 at 4:10pm

Hope to see everyone tomorrow at 6:30. :)

Would at least like to say hi. Our team was out late last night so not sure what we have planned post sessions.

Are you guys heading to Jillian's tonight?
