Hello Grand Rapids Drupalers,
Unfortunately we didn't get much feedback about topics for this month so you're stuck with our own topic of interest! Ha!
Dan Royer has a great site he's using for GVSU that demonstrates a Beginner-Intermediate level Drupal application, using the Views and Field Permissions modules. This is how he describes it:
"Drupal has loads of e-learning applications that have still yet to be explored. The Learning Management System that rules the roost—more by widespread brute force than by earned status—is Blackboard, a kind of creepy treehouse masking as a LMS. For Drupal savvy teachers, Drupal can work very well as a course management system. Dan Royer will show how to use private fields and views to set up a gradebook to track student progress on assignments through the semester."
Modules: Views, Field Permissions
Techniques: Add custom fields to Account; create a view, create a context sensitive menu for user accounts to display user grades.
So we'd like to start off with that and expand into a show-and-tell session. What are you working on? Participation is optional, but encouraged. Feel free to come and simply listen!
Meeting is at 6pm at the Community Media Center, as always. Optional food and drinks afterward down the street at Winchester.
