playlist me too

Using Drupal 6.14. I'm struggling with the same problem. If you've made progress please post your results.

I need a friendly mp3 playlist player for my site and I've tried the following:

Audio Module-- could not get player to show up on my page at all (ref. http://drupal.org/node/591664)

AudioRecordingField Module- can record and play wav files, but requires applet download with onerous warning message. No method for handling mp3 format, or for building or playing a playlist

swftools with flowplayer3-- able to create and play a list of mp3, but could not present visual play list or manually jump tracks during playback (ref. http://drupal.org/node/591664#comment-2149560)

XSPF playlist- could not get XML playlist output. Views integration not found, not successful at getting patch to work. (ref. http://drupal.org/node/354374#comment-1448990)

Dublin Drupaller seems to have solved the problem on his demo site http://d69.dublindrupaller.com/discography. I'm trying to figure out how to deploy this (ref. http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-74419)

I'm also planning to try http://drupal.org/project/soundmanager2

Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks.

Any luck? I've wasted a lot

Any luck? I've wasted a lot of time trying to get something to work.

This worked for me...

I was able to get Dub's "Discography" method working, according to the discussion in http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309 using Soundmanager. It requires patching and custom editing so it's hard to port, but it is the only solution I could find using Drupal 6. First I followed Dub's instructions using Drupal 6 and Garland theme to create the "release" content type used in his application. After testing this, I made the edits to support MY content type. Here are the comments in that thread that are most pertinent to deploying:

http://d69.dublindrupaller.com/discography (demo)
http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-97544 soundmanager license note
http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-74419
Note- FileFieldMeta and getID3 modules are not needed
create ‘release’ content type (apply snippet using use cck import facility, see http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-78415)
http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-78398
http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-78567 enabling theme
http://groups.drupal.org/node/19309#comment-96324 possible omission
cleared Drupal cache
created a node, uploaded 3 mp3’s, player and playlist working OK.
Now, to adapt this to MY content type:
 delete content type release
import content type fanclub (containing "messages" field to replace "songs")
 create patch files as follows:
 rename
 from content-field-field_release_songs-release.tpl.php
 to content-field-field_fanclub_messages-fanclub.tpl.php
 from node-release.tpl.php
 to node-fanclub.tpl.php
replace "release" -> "fanclub" and "songs"->"messages" in files
 content-field-field_fanclub_messages-fanclub.tpl.php
 node-fanclub.tpl.php
 discography.css

Whew!!!
Thanks Dub for all your work and advice!

same here - finally worked for me with swftools

wow it seems i'm not the only one that had problems having a playlist with mp3 player on my website. at least i don't feel so dumb anymore!

i also wasted a lot of time trying to setup dashplayer but when i finished i just couldn't make it play anything and it kept displaying this loading circle.

it finally woked when i used "swftools" http://drupal.org/project/swftools
you just need to follow the instructions here http://drupal.org/node/303203
for me i used "SWF Object 2" for "Adding support for JavasScript replacement methods" but you can try the other methods too, i didn't have time to do it.
i also picked "JW Media Player 4" as mp3 player.

i hope this would help in a way. thanks for posting your solutions, i want to try them when i have some time maybe i'll find something better than swftools. but i would say setting up swftools was fast and easy enough.

good luck

Shame SWFTools didnt work for me at all

I have looked at the example sites from this group's wiki and Im still baffled at what I might have to do to get playlists working in Drupal. I have tried MediaFront, SWFTools and just the Media module (which is what this group is about) and had OSM Player give me the best results, but still not satisfactory since Im stuck with the "loading" graphic.

Relevant link for album playlist in question: http://leopardspot.endofinternet.net:81/drupal6sandbox/node/4
Server: Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu)
PHP version: 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.9
Drupal Version: 6.222

However, the only problem I have is that, when I go to the album, I see all the tracks listed under "child nodes" but the OSM player only shows the "loading" graphic both in the player view and on the playlist listing side of the player. Nothing ever plays and clicking "play" will not do anything. I have the preset set to "auto load" and it did not fix the problem.

NOTE: I am behind a mountain DSL connection so it might be slow to load. However, I was testing this page on my network here so I am doubtful that the DSL connection's speed is the problem
