Meetups?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Has anyone had any further thoughts about if we're going to start the SWDUG meetups again, and if so, where?

I'm currently working on something for the SWDUG - I'll be in touch as soon as I know the details.

Weird. I'm not getting

Weird. I'm not getting emails.. got warned by Alex.

I've been pondering doing some Boston Initiative stuff as meetup content.

Looks like a neat and structured way to go from basics to contributing, while also working on real world problems.

What do you think?

Looks interesting...

If I understand how that

If I understand how that works, then I'm all for it.

I would really like to get in to more custom stuff but realise that I'm starting from the beginning.

Happy to help as and when I can.

meeting up

I'd be really interested in the next meet up. I'm sort of a beginner with Drupal. Am I to understand that during the meet ups I can learn a bit more about Drupal?

Hello there, previous meetups

Hello there,

previous meetups we've held have been a little light on the learning, and heavy on pizza. However my plan (and maybe this would sit well with some others?) is to introduce some more structured learning into the meetups, yes.

Thing is, there are resources out there to get you acquainted with Drupal, and there's some excellent API documentation for those already contributing, but not a lot to bridge the gap. I'm hoping maybe we can grow a group of seasoned contributing drupal developers, who are also there to help the less experienced along too.

Bit rambly, but hopefully makes sense ;-)

that sounds brilliant. a little structured learning would give some focus to meetings and I would happily 'swot up' before hand if we had some core objectives. I would class myself as a drupal beginner but I have been building websites as a hobby for quite a while now, always keen to learn more though.

I have a venue at a training centre in swansea if anyone is stuck for a venue? free tea and coffee, no pizza i'm afriad though.

Looks good

Jamie, good plan, that sounds great, I'll be there if I can make it on the date!

Good stuff

Jamie, good ramble! I'm liking the sound of this. Looking forward to it already.

I usually found the SWDUG meetups very useful and learnt a lot there, even if they were pizza fueled. :)
