Let's get together in #drupal-groups and chat!

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hey "Local Users Group Organizers" gang! (and a few, select, cross posted groups)

If Spring is a season of rejuvenation in your part of the planet, then I hope yours is going better than it is here in Indiana. As the rains come and the grey clouds loom, I look forward to seeing the sun again AND to making efforts to grow the Local Drupal Users Group in my city.

Most of you should know that we have a Freenode IRC room (#drupal-groups) that was established just for the purpose of discussing GDO and group related topics. The channel belongs to Oleg Terenchuk "Litwol" of www.fastcompany.com fame. (THNX LITWOL!)

Some of us met each other at a BOF at DrupalCon. I would like to schedule a time when as many of us as possible can pop in to #drupal-groups and meet one another.
Whether you're involved in a local group, or trying to start one, this will be a good opportunity to ask questions, share stories, and help this group, "Local Users Group Organizers," establish some direction and momentum.

How many of you would be in to this idea?
Could you reply to this thread and suggest a time? I'm thinking Sat 4/25 morning maybe 09:00 UTC-4 EDT (but I'm wide open)
As you suggest a time it would be appreciated if you would share some topics you would like to discuss, answers you want, or experiences you want to share.

Its understandable that not every one can make it; your ideas are nonetheless important. Your replies are just as welcome.
Once we have a date and time selected, I will post an EVENT so that the broader GDO community can pick up on it.
Feel free to cross post this to any appropriate groups that you belong to.

Thank you!

A couple things....

I have a few tasks set before me.

1] I need to assemble a database of all group leaders. [group, loc, leader(s), freq] even ones that don't use gdo
2] I need to ascertain what the Drupal Association can do for us. Cary Gordon has recently been accepted to the Drupal Association and a Board of Directors position to assist in DrupalCamps and local events. My campaign for DA membership and a board position to assist "groups" was unsuccessful, however, Cary is my DA liaison; helping me accomplish these goals.
3] Get a sense from the L.U.G.O. members as to what they want from the group and what they have to offer the group.
