Photoshop PSD mockups for Acquia Marina

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

For everyone out there making modifications to this theme (and I know this probably comes too late for lots of you, but better late than never, right?), here are the layered PSD files used to create Acquia Marina. They're not checked in to Drupal's CVS because not all the images used in here are released under the GPL*, which is a requirement for files hosted in the repository on drupal.org.

Hopefully this at least will make future modifications much easier, since you can work with the original Photoshop files now for changing colours, etc.

Due to the upload limitations here, you'll need to download and then rename the acquia-marina-psds.tar_.gz_.txt file to acquia-marina-psds.tar.gz

  • To clarify, the PSDs include icons that were NOT the ones that ended up being used in the actual Acquia Marina theme on drupal.org. Once we update the PSDs to use those GPL icons, they will be checked in to CVS as well.

This is fantastic! ... but a question remains

Posted by schuster211 on March 16, 2009 at 1:42pm

I could not wait to download the PSD files, open them and, as a noob does, ... wonder how to use them effectively. I guess I was looking for the "slices" or the other method by which one specifies and generates the images for theme. Any suggestions for changing colors?

Working with Photoshop

Hey there! We don't usually use the actual "slices" feature in Photoshop -- this is really up to personal preference of the themer. Also it's often not beneficial when you're "adapting" a mockup for a flexible CMS like Drupal, where the original mockup doesn't really end up as an exact copy in practice.

You might want to check out this screencast http://gotdrupal.com/videos/drupal-theme-makeover or search for resources on how to slice a Photoshop file. Also take a look at the images in the theme folder itself to see what they ended up as :)
