At http://www.gazettenet.com we have a website that is Drupal-based. Our editorial system is Saxotech. I am interested in making contacts with other newspaper people who are also working with Saxotech on the back end and Drupal on the front end.

Thanks, I'll pass it along

The guys to take the credit are Gerry LeBlanc (now a freelancer), Don St. John (content), Chip Kay, and (recently) R. J. Steinert. I'm just the infosysmgr who supports their efforts and helps with the data transforms from time to time. That said, I now have three small scale Drupal sites that I master, and I'm involved in a big project to move a Cold Fusion site, http://www.manyhands.com, to Drupal. I'm also the db go-to for our site. So we know enough to be dangerous. [smile]

Using xml-import with Drupal

Posted by espenmoe on October 3, 2008 at 8:31pm

Journalisten.no is not running Saxo, but Atex.

What we have set up is a xml-based workflow from our editorial system to Drupal. It runs like a clock, and it takes less than a minute from an article is saved in the editorial system, to the Drupal-version of it has been published.

All we use is linux-modules and a custom linux-script.

If Saxo can generate reliable xml-code, this should work with Saxo as well.

Absolutely, thanks for weighing in, espenmoe. Saxo generates reliable xml-code, and as you can see from our site (http://www.gazettenet.com), we're doing OK with that part. We're looking for ways to handle other "assets" like audio and video. Saxo provides for all types of additional content. We're curious as to how others are moving that fluidly to the web. We're also looking to see what kind of things we can do within Saxo that will provide benefit to us online. And we're also wondering how different folks are dealing with ROP to web. I am not asking for these issues to be answered here; I'm just looking for contacts so that we can talk.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
