There's alot to be excited about in the upcoming 5.0 release; this should be a very dynamic and info-packed session.

I'd like to give a brief presentation on access control in Drupal, an area where the new release has some substantial improvements. The basic outline:

  • overview of the node_access table
  • show how Merlin's na_arbitrator patch (in core) handles the table micro-management grunt-work, simplifying the task of implementing custom access control and allowing different access control schemes to coexist on the same system.
  • grant/revoke access to form elements using hook_alter and the new element[#access] FAPI flag.

Hope to see you all there!
Eric
