The purpose of this wiki page is to develop a list of functional requirements for the Station module as development proceeds. The list is divided into Must Haves, Nice to Haves, and Future Considerations. Please add your own station's requirements to the list under the appropriate category with your d.o username next to each that you agree with. Please consult the group before demoting any requirement.

When a general consensus direction is reached on each requiremnt, these can be turned into issues at the Station issue queue http://drupal.org/project/issues/search/station

I am looking for the best way to let users upload audio and video content to a site and have it converted to play back in the browser. It seems that FFMPEG is 'the' solution on the back end, as all of these module use it. arthurf created http://drupal.org/project/ffmpeg_wrapper as a common api for FFMPEG but it is not clear to me that any of these modules us it (except Media Mover).

This page is intended as a wiki for all those who use audio on their sites, particularly music sites, to define and share best practices for setting up a great Drupal site using audio in different use cases. Acknowledgements to zirafa, gusaus and dublindrupaler for their groundwork in establishing the community and the discussion threads - whilst there's lot's of discussion about development and distributions, there's not a lot defining the best ways to configure audio today, and benefit from the road mileage we have have between us. Hi everyone. I use Drupal to develop http://burningtoken.com. It's chucked full of music mostly from Northern California. Here are my current notes regarding Drupal 6 Installation Best Practices. The notes are all jumbled. Sorry. They are exported from a FreeMind mind map. This has taken me forever to compile. It is a gift back to an open source project that has helped me out tremendously.

MediaMosa
With MediaMosa you can build a state-of-the-art, scalable Middleware Media Distribution Platform in Drupal which facilitates access to, and usage of (shared) storage capacity, metadata databases, transcoding- and streaming servers. A MediaMosa platform offers functionality for searching, playing, uploading, transcoding, as well as a fine granularity media access control system towards its users.

The following modules integrate third party video with Drupal, such as YouTube or Blip.TV. Modules included may automatically parse URLs and/or embed code to determine the provider to store and display, and may or may not display thumbnails, autoplay, and other features (outlined below). Please help to make this list more accurate!
