I need to create an endpoint for ORU^R01 observation messages. Should I use HL7v2, FHIR or something else? Since PHP doesn't have much HL7 support, maybe FHIR would be a better option?

Does anyone know of any conferences specifically dealing with Drupal in healthcare?

Drupal has proven itself very useful and a great contributor to healthcare overall. As a medical doctor and surgeon, our group has successfully used Drupal to develop several platforms including:

• Open source clinical trial management systems
• Platforms for interdisciplinary collaborations of healthcare professionals
• Patient and healthcare information aid websites
• Healthcare conference platforms and paper submission systems

In addition to this useful group here on Drupal.org, we started up a Drupal Healthcare group on LinkedIn - http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=4717718. This will allow individuals using (or interested in) Drupal for healthcare to connect and collaborate with others doing the same. Lessons learned, best practices, etc.

I need to put together a solution to store health documents for the company I work with. Drupal is the platform, but I am not sure in what format should I store the documents. Documents will be viewed from the web (remotely), but also locally in the office.

Real life situation:

1. I might be ask to put together all the documents for a patient for the last 4 years and this might be around 10K documents and the size of all of them around 600MB in PDF at 300 dpi.

I'm wondering if anyone in the Drupal community has been pioneering support for the DICOM (medical) image format. From some preliminary googling, there seems to be a PHP Imagemagick library that can do conversions, etc. (http://www.nanodicom.org/documentation/faq)

I'm working on a program that needs to store/process these images for display in a web browser, as part of a web app geared towards facilitating Ultrasound reporting. Any help or info in this avenue would be greatly appreciated!
